These are great for making a large batch of a casserole/lasagna/whatever, then you can save and freeze smaller portions (vs freezing a 9x13 dish). I line them with foil before filling them, then cook in the oven, then, when the dishes cool, pop the lids on and put them in the freezer. Once frozen, you can take them out of the dishes, wrap fully in foil and put the frozen 'bricks' back in the freezer so your casserole dishes are free for the next meal. When it's time to reheat a brick, just unwrap the extra foil, pop it back into the pyrex dish to thaw, then into the oven (without the plastic lid of course!) for the next meal. The lids fit nice and tight, but have large corner lips for making them easier to remove.
