It's great quality. I use this deep dish for roasting a spatchcock chicken. It fits perfectly, and the deep depth keeps the fat from spattering all over my oven while the chicken roasts in a hot oven. Then the lid keeps leftovers covered in the refrigerator.
Where has this nice deep 13x9 been all my life! I never tried to update being I have a 9x13, but the casserole I made would have been overflowing in my regular 9x13 (which is only 1.5 inches tall). This is a 3" deep pan and even has a cover so it can travel and save me money on aluminum foil. I love it!!!
This is definitely deeper than the common size that most are. I was looking for something to cook my spaghetti squash in the microwave that, when cut in half, is long enough and wide enough to cook one of the larger ones in and deep enough that both halves could be fully immersed in a higher level of water that reaches the centers on both halves without the water being so hot that you have to worry about spillage of the hot water when you remove the dish from the microwave. My regular-sized one was never long enough to lay both halves completely flat. One half would always have to be propped up some onto the other half. If you like spaghetti squash and have only baked it, it tastes the same as when baked, so I just turn the turntable off in the microwave and the larger one I just cooked a few days ago was done in 30 minutes, and it might've been cooked enough before that. It certainly makes it so soft that the squash comes out of its shell easily, leaving no part that takes any effort to remove the strands out of it. I don't like pasta at all, but I absolutely love spaghetti squash. A little tip I discovered is that if you put the whole squash in the microwave with the turntable still on for 3-5 minutes, depending on the size of the squash and the wattage of your microwave (mine is 1,200w), it makes it a whole lot easier to cut the ends off and cut it in half, even if you prefer to bake yours. You use a lot less electricity (if your stove is electric; don't know about gas) and it doesn't cause a lot of heat like regular ovens do. I just got my dish the day before I cooked the squash, so I haven't tried it for anything else yet. The rubber lid fits tightly, so you shouldn't need to worry about leakage if you're taking something to another place for a picnic or some major holiday. I know it will definitely hold a lot more than the regular-sized ones, too.
Great deep dishes for using for the holidays and lots of storage room for every day meals. Staple in my household and will buy more! Bought initially for sweet potato casserole and green bean casserole for the holidays.
This is my second one. This is perfect for my banana pudding that I make because it's deep dish my regular 9 x 13 if I make a banana pudding in, I'm unable to use the cover that comes with it.
This will be great baking dish as it's increased height will take on the largest of casseroles. The lid makes it even more useful for leftover storage. Overall, I am pleased with the purchase and that is partly because the Walmart price was very competitively priced.
I'm giving this a 4 because after I ordered it, Walmart cancelled one of the two I ordered (not reducing because of that - but it is annoying). I went to Walmart store directly, and noticed a similar Pyrex dish, so went to pick it up to look at it, and cut my finger open because I guess a previous box/pyrex in the shelf had broken and there was glass on the other boxes I guess that I didn't see when reaching to get it. I notified a person stalking shelves, and she didn't understand me. After I came back from bathroom to wash the blood I noticed she had still not done anything. I then saw a manager and walked her over, and she called for cleanup. I'm giving it a 4 since there may be a durability issues. If I could rate my store, I'd give it a 1 since they didn't even offer a bandaid or ask how I was as I had a bloody napkin on my hand lol. Granted it wasn't a major cut, just glass on a finger, but...
30 minutes into baking a cake at only 350 degrees, this pan exploded in my oven sending glass shards everywhere and uncooked cake oozing all over and down into the lower oven as well. the pan had not been mis-used and had no visible cracks. horrible and dangerous mess to clean. not only that, but also all my ingredients lost and had to over. DO NOT BUY!
I have used pyrex for years with no issues. I ordered this one because I needed a 9x13 size pan and love it came with a lid. I was cooking a chicken in this and heard an explosion coming from the oven. It literally shattered in the oven. So no I will not recommend this.
The glassware had manufacturer defects on one side of the handle. Its surface was rough and sharp, making it unsafe to use. The lid fit fine, although its edges were also rough, as if it were not properly finished. If this dish were made to specs, it would have been a great addition to my kitchen. I was looking forward to having lasagna that didn't overflow the dish with only 3 layers.
