I have used this before and have used other brands. This is by far the best product on the market. It may cost a little more, and I had to have it shipped to me, but is was delivered quickly, easy to use, and provides the best possible finish.
I build and refinish furniture for the wine industry. I've tested multiple professional quality products against solvents, wine and cleaning agents. The zar matte was the clear winner and is my go to for top coat applications. Recently I visited a location to inspect tables I had finished 3 yrs prior. They were a white ash with toner coats to an almost black. Was amazed to see that they were just about as fresh as when I delivered them. I've been called in for scratch repairs but in every case , it had been due to negligence as I believe no finish is 100% bulletproof. This product repairs easily. A light scuff coat to relive scratches and promote adhesion then one coat of poly and it's back to new. I continue to explore and test top coat finishes but as of now this is still my got to.
I am using the matte oil base product on restored antique pine furniture and the application of the product is very good, the coating appearance is uniform and beautiful, and the vividness of the wood grain is great. The ZAR product really helps to give a uniform and beautiful finish on imperfect restored wood!
Fairly experienced in woodworking. I did a few test samples with this matte poly vs minwax, old masters and varathane (all oil based) - Zar turned out the best. Great product and results! Would recommend
Oil-based satin poly is the only poly I will use on my projects. Leveling characteristics with brush-on are unmatched by other brands. This product is somewhat more expensive than those brands carried in big-box stores or even in a to-the-trade store I use for other items. But worth it. I have not used with a sprayer but will be back with my review of this delivery system when complete.
Bought on recommendations of my local paint store for my new birch bookshelves....goes on easily and looks amazing....worth every penny
We got this product for free from a friend and absolutely fell in love with its natural looking finish.
I screwed up on ordering the gloss instead of satin. The satin was not worded very well. Excellent product but I don't use gloss.
