wife broke hers needed a new one
I mainly purchased in order to become more active: workout, etc. If you get motion sickness easily, this may not be the platform for you. There are some apps that are great, some are OK, and some that are just not that good. The App Store “return” policy is pretty great. I'm still getting familiar with everything, but I'm impressed!
It's most advanced VR to date. I highly recommend it. Plentiful games, hours of fun. I'd say I clocked in about 50 hrs or more on Resident evil 4 and there's more games i haven't tried yet, it's simply amazing what the oculus can do. The motion track is really well and i do unfortunately notice sometimes when taking the head set off and on a couple times it's tends to glitch in a way where you can't access anything, so I have to turn off the quest completely and turn back on to fix that slight irritation, but other than that works like a dream.
The headset itself is very cool - it is a fully immersive experience. I mostly use the Supernatural app and I finally have a workout I look forward to. I needed to buy a few accessories : Kiwi head strap - if you are sweating the original strap won't stay in place and Anker docking system to keep it all neat when charging I look forward to the next generation which I hope will be a bit lighter and have improved resolution
I have to admit that I love games, especially fantasy and RPG games. The Meta Quest 2 brings those games to a whole new level where I am immersed in a 3D world with tons of options. In addition, there are "games" and apps designed to get you to be more active. The presentations are great and the play-through, though now always smooth, is entertaining. The headset itself is easy to use. I gave it 4-stars for comfort based on how it feels and fits. I find it difficult to get the straps to a point where the lenses stay put and in focus. In addition, I can't seem to eliminate the light leak around the nose - not terrible and I can ignore it most of the time, but it would be nice if it weren't there. I will likely try to buy the "comfort" straps for the headset to see if I get a better fit, but this headset is definitely getting used.
Set up was pretty straight forward but had some issues setting it up with the pc. Comfort was my only real problem with the quest 2; The glasses spacer doesn't really help all that much and I had to buy a comfort strap for it but other than that everything was great.
I've been fully blind in my left eye for most of my life and as most will know, current 3D technology just won't work on me. I was blown away when I played my Quest 2! Though I'm assured the 3D effect is not in play for me I honestly would've never known! If Immersion is what they were going for, NAIL ON THE HEAD!! I was so worried I'd be left out. To everyone involved in all aspects of the Quest 2 experience... Cheers!
Setup could be much more intuitive if the first out-of-the-box program guided the user through the steps. The boxing and dance app works very well and is a good workout. The 3D tours of the space station and a few other experiences are amazing, but quite limited. Over time with more content, the device will be used more than just for workouts, but it's fun and convenien for that.
My Facebook account was hacked and I am being impersonated. neither meta nor fb can do anything but send me useless links that don't assist me in recovering my account. I cannot use certain features of the devise because I cannot regain access to my Facebook.
I don't see any interesting games in the store. It's just simple "smartphone-like" games with very ugly and simple designs/graphics. No serious projects here. Seems like a demo of something big in the future. But currently, these "avatars", simple mobile graphic, and stupid titles seems very ugly and boring. My experience in a few words: boring, disappointed, and frustrated. Don't recommend the VR and especially the Meta Quest.
