I gave this product to my 5 gaited Saddlebred mare. She has such a huge motor that sometimes she just gets in her own way! She would get so upset if she couldn't go FULL SPEED AHEAD all the time. Once she was on this she still had a huge motor but she was more relaxed and more focused. She would wait for me to ask her to 'get big' instead of pulling my arms off and trying to run through the bridle.
I have a 5 yo AQHA gelding that is a bit "inattentive" (judge's words), (also known as the barn A.D.D. "child"). First show was Mar 8th, came off the trailer ok,we worked and warmed up for quite awhile, then I gave him 20 min at lunch so I could change. When I got back in the saddle to ride my Western Dressage tests I had an insane, green broke 5 yo that was spooking at everything (that he'd already seen and experienced) and explosive. We still did good but we decided to try the Total Calm and Focus before our second show on Sat the 15th. We did 1 sc for breakfast on Wed, Thurs, Fri, then 1 sc Fri night and Sat morning.. I had a COMPLETELY different horse!!!!! He was absolutely fabulous. His brain was in the bridle the whole time, barely spooked twice, once when the port-o-john door slammed behind him and once when my cowboy hat flew off and hit him in the butt. There were also some young riders in the practice pen that weren't aware of their surroundings and ran into us (twice). I was amazed at his non-reaction, the only thing he did was move his face out of the way. We are riding in a clinic this weekend and will be using it as well. I am passing the info to everyone I know about this amazing product!! Now to find a similar product for people..
My horse was very nervous and I never knew when he would rear ( on ground). I could not tack him up in the barn on the cross tie. He had broken 3 halters! Now he is calm and is happy to be around other horses. He is a totally different horse on Total Calm and Focus. Thank you.
Total Calm & Focus does exactly what the name implies. Greatest thing is that it doesn't test and it doesn't sedate my horses. I just loose the nervousness and sometimes scary situations with my horses, especially the colts when breaking. This company does some really special products, thank you Ramard.
It seems different calming approaches work for each horse. My OTTB responds to calming supplements with valerian, as he is already an easy going and quiet horse, but internalizes his stress. (He is the type of horse that has a good mind--virtually bombproof, but is the least dynamic in a herd, happiest being last--and he's a big 17h Thoroughbred.) Magnesium-based and other herbal calming supplements have no effect on him. My young and strong-willed mare and my strong and spooky teenager (both Holsteiners) didn't respond to anything until I tried Ramard Total Calm and Focus. I've literally tried everything that SmartPak carries that has substantial concentrations of applicable ingredients, and nothing worked until I tried the Ramard product. There's no doubt that it works. We do a lot of intense riding in large groups (fox hunting), and have had a very successful (safe & fun) since using Total Calm & Focus. And I like it because you don't need to feed it every day--so it is effective when you need it to be. Just as one of the other reviewers stated, if you need to have a calm, sane horse for an event, start feeding Total Calm three days before, with a.m. & p.m. doses the day before, and a double dose the day of, will do the trick. Since seeing how effective this supplement really is, I've since transitioned to using Ramard's Total Joint Care and Total Blood Fluids, and Total Gut for my OTTB who need additional help keeping a calm digestive tract. These products work great individually, but are synergistic when combined. Great value!!!!
Xander is an intensely hot, reactive, and spooky Dutch Harness Horse. Even just being led on a rope. The difference this product has made is life changing. For him! Now I can say he is NOT for sale. I am also changing him very gradually to Tribute Kalm N EZ feed. Only negative is his white nose is a bit yellow....but I would be good with neon orange in exchange for the change in my horse!
I added this product to the existing monthly SmartPak delivery for my 5 year old, lightly shown Morgan gelding. The results were beyond expectations. I have never used a supplement like this for any of my show horses. I will admit I was a wee bit of a skeptic. However, I know I have great faith in the quality, and efficacy of all SmartPak products, as I have been a client for decades. I cannot say enough about how pleased my trainer and I am with the results. It is worth every penny spent. If you are looking for a supplent like this for your horse, I would recommend going directly to this one!!
I purchased the same kind of product from Finish Line but I didn't see any results. After just a couple of weeks I noticed a difference with the Total Calm & Focus. I would recommend this product to anyone and I have high strung race horses.
This is an amazing product that I used on my off the track thoroughbred. He calmed right down whenever we are in a group and completely focused and happy..
I have been trying all sorts of calming supplements for my mare, and she really seems to like this product. I've noticed she is more relaxed and attentive, especially in situations that would usually make her anxious. This seems to have helped in keeping her focused without making her dull. It's also a huge plus that this has been surprisingly palatable, as she usually is more hesitant with powdered supplements! This is definitely something I will keep in her regimen.
