Before I begin this review I'd just like to be up front and state that I received a copy of the game from Ravensburger in exchange for my opinion and it is as follows: If you've ever played Disney Villainous then you already will have a fairly good grasp on how to play. There are a few rule changes such as a combined fate deck and cards which directly take affect against certain villains based on an icon in the lower right hand corner of the card to make things interesting. I'll mention the movement piece quality is different as other reviewers have said but I did not find this to be an issue. In fact I rather like the cosmic glittery type of plastic that was used and feel like although they are missing some of the heft of the prior pieces it did not affect their purpose while in use. Some other reviewers I've seen have mentioned a step down in card stock quality but I do not see that ringing true as when I have the cards of Disney and Marvel side by side they seem identical in every way besides what is printed on them. The game has really thematic game play with the addition of the combined fate deck and it really does seem to change the game. In moments where you feel the unease of choosing a fate card and finding out that "Ohhhh noooo..." the card you had hoped to foil your opponent with was actually meant entirely for you. I enjoyed this part of the game play immensely because it made things more tense IMO. All of the characters have interesting twists and you really have to play a few times before you start to get in the groove of what they are all about, and what their decks offer. If you've played Disney Villainous, you're well aware of this though. Just be prepared that the game can run long as stated by Ravensburger (40-80 mins) and that is entirely true, even with the rules down pact. If Disney Villainous was a stepping stone to get you into board gaming, this is the next stone. Adding a bit more meat such as being able to invade the realms of other villains, specialty skills for each of the villains provided, and the combined fate deck that can really put a kink in your best laid plans. All in all if you are a fan of Disney Villainous you owe it to yourself to give this one a try if you are into the theme.
If youve played the other Villainous games, this is the same thing just Marvel themed. Great villains. This is a game that plays longer the more people you have. Strategy and luck are big components of this game.
I bought this as a Christmas gift, and my son loves this game. He has every version of it and plays it often, along with the many others that are out
This game is a well thought out extension of the Villainous franchise. I hope they continue to add expansions to both this game and the original.
My son loved it he's 48 to had to his collection of games
gift for grandson, he requested it
We love the game and are very excited about this version! However the one that was delivered is not in great shape. It seems like it has been opened and returned. There's some damage to the box and there are some clearance stickers that were removed but not very well so there's a mess on the box I have to try and clean up.
It's super fun to play and it got there promptly on time. Thanos is definitely the character it was designed for, he is easily the most fun but the rest are pretty fun too!
Absolutely love the game. The handling of the package during delivery, however, was horrible. The box was extremely mishandled. It even lead to the game box being slightly crumpled.
The game I ordered arrived with a dent in my game box. You could tell it had been opened before because all the tape around the four sides was well used and wouldn't stick to the box. All the pieces inside the box were out of place. I'm shocked I was sent something in that kind of condition!!!
