10 days in, I'm happy with my choice!

CDS April 29, 2026

Very pleased with my new Razor A5 Air after 10 days of adult ownership. Prior to purchase, I debated two things — 1) whether a kick scooter with tubed rubber tires was better than one with solid polyurethane (pu) wheels and no distinct tires, and 2) whether the Razor brand name was worth a price premium. As an experienced road cyclist, I’m used to pumping up tires if I haven’t done so for a few days or before a long ride. This is critical with the Razor A5 Air, too. Keeping its tires at the recommended 60 psi ensures low rolling resistance (though higher than solid pu), in return for far better ride quality (cushioned and quieter) and safer riding (on unexpected loose or wet surfaces) than the the regular A5 or A6. And since I got my scooter at a good sale price from Walmart, the price premium over unknown brands was low. Build quality looks good with clean finishes and welds, though a couple of things could be improved — 1) The tire tubes have angled valve stems for better access while pumping. However, one of them is not aligned perfectly, so I'll have to disassemble that wheel to adjust it. At present, attaching the pump head is possible, but not easy. 2) There was no specific protection for the Razor lettering on the front of the bike. It came partly disfigured, perhaps due to contact with the handlebars during shipping. Not a good advertisement for the brand! Other tips from a scooting beginner: 1) The rear wheel’s foot brake is only effective for speed adjustments, not for making a full stop. That needs a foot on the ground, so check out online videos on how to do so safely. 2) The underside of the deck is just 1-3/8” off the ground. This makes for efficient kicking, but you have to be careful with sudden level changes or the underside will scrape. I just get off and walk if it looks risky, but hope to learn to lift the front wheel while riding instead. 3) Years of cycling have taught me that it is best to wear gloves and a helmet for protection in a crash. Pleased that this model comes with durable rubber grips, not the foam grips of most other Razors. One useful dimension Razor does not disclose is the scooter’s size when folded. I measured this to be 30”x13”x5”, before buying a long duffel bag to carry it. A bag is not necessary, as it is easy to carry when folded; however, it’s nice to use one when taking it inside buildings or on public transportation. Folding is easy, taking only a few seconds, but I can see that it will be important to keep the mechanism clean of road debris. I’m happy to say that the Razor A5 Air was the correct choice for me. But understand that pumping up its tires once or twice a week is required for efficient kicking and gliding, and for avoiding flats. All the best in making the right decision for you … and happy scooting!

Great scooter

Great scooter. Got one for all three kids and they love it. Huge upgrade over cheaper models and the air filled tires make trips to the park a breeze.

Good scooter but not for the tall

Bryant December 23, 2024

Good scooter but not really for a person over 6’. Son loved it but he kept falling. It wasn’t worth him getting hurt. He claims that he hit a rock and went rolling. At any rate, this is a great scooter. I bought my daughter one as well and so far she’s enjoyed it…

Excellent Quality

Lynned December 25, 2024

This is our second razor scooter. We purchased for our 8 year old and liked it so much we got one for our 5 year old. Our favorite features are the adjustable handlebars and rubber air filled tires. Braking took some getting used to but easy enough. The scooter is sturdy enough for an adult.

Good but could be better

anonymous October 5, 2025

Assembly was easy and quality seems good however my only issue are with either the wheels are not being properly balanced or the bearings are weak because the rear wheel itself clicks and is a little wobbly.

Bad design

anonymous April 8, 2025

The front air valve protrudes out so much that it hits the front tire fork every time it spins thus creating a clicky sound when riding. I don’t see how this is just the one I received as much as it is the design of the wheel. The rest of the scooter is amazingly built as all razors are. Just disappointed with this one.
