I needed a means to connect my Amazon firestick to my older style HD television. This worked very well.

It worked with my old Analog TV. This adapter saved it from going to the dump. I can now see satellite cable TV on it. When I change the channel, it shows a bit of distortion as the picture adjusts, but only for a few seconds. The picture quality is great considering the age of the TV.

It only supports 480 resolution, not 1080P as the packaging suggests.

Unfortunately this device did not work for me. I used it to connect a Sony HDR-CX230 camcorder to a laptop so I could use my Wirecast software to view the camera. My laptop could not detect the camcorder if I used a direct HDMI connection, so I used a Startech USB adapter with this device. So my setup was Laptop->Startech adater->Audiovox HDMI adapter->camcorder. When I finally got the connections to sync, I only heard sound. Granted, the Startech adapter had ports for only audio L/R, video, and S-video. I connected the audio cables from the HDMI adapter (thankfully, the cables were labeled! Good job there). No problem there. Sound came through. However, no matter which video cable I used, I only saw lines on my laptop. I figured I could get by with just one video cable of the HDMI adapter instead of using all three, but no matter which one I used, I did not get an image. I would blame this on my setup, but I have done a similar thing using less cables than what was available (e.g. using 2 out of 3 cables available) and had success, so I don't believe my setup was faulty. I could be wrong, but I expected this to work. As such, I presently can not recommend this product.

It just didnt work... and Im very upset that I'm unable to take back to store. So, now I gotta pay more money to send a defective item back. Not happy.
