i know alot of people do not like the granny square yarn. It takes awhile getting use to the tensions of the yarn. Its not the softest yarn either. Made two sweaters out of this color and a blue color with the flower power. Turned out well, looks cute.
This is an excellent acrylic yarn and very affordable. What I like about it is that I can make garments or blankets with just a continued single crochet (or tunisian crochet) and it automatically makes a unique pattern. I have not tried to use it for granny squares so am not sure it if fits that billing or not, but I was looking for an attractive color scheme that was interesting to use and this certainly is. I made a hat and a tunic and am now working on a lap blanket in another color sheme.
I wish this yarn had been a little more softer since I am making hats for the cancer kiddies at the children's hospital and don't want it scratchy. I have already begun to crochet this toboggan hoping I am pleased when I finish it. Thank you and God bless. Sherry
i was veryimpressed with the way the granny squares came out exactly like they were suppose to you do have to take into consideration what needle to use.
I purchased this for a sweater that I am making for a friend and the color blends so nicely and gives a warm sage accent and is beautiful for a sweater, scarf or just about anything. Definitely recommend
Wanted to try this and so bought it after I seen some reviews on YouTube and people having issues. Leave 4” tail at the beginning of project once you figure out what hook size to use to get the results it goes very easy and makes really nice granny squares. I’ve also tried making an African flower granny square out of it as well that turned out well as well. It can be used for other things besides granny squares. I’m making a dog sweater in the soft white/citrus one and I’ve done the African flowers in color soft white pink punch. I’ve had very little issue getting the color changes. Depending on if you work tighter with stitches or looser will depend on what hook size you’ll require. I get the same results with the hook they recommend and the next hook size up. Of your experience in crocheting or knitting you shouldn’t have to much problem working the color changes
It's not one I would use for granny squares as its "intended", but I quite enjoy it in just a plain DC all around blanket. Especially mixed with shades of blue. So pretty.
Yarn is expensive and I wish it wasn't. I'm 83 and I crochet a lot and therefore I'm constantly buying yarn. I really like Red Heart With Love over Red Heart Super Saver yarn and therefore I only gave the quality four stars.
Its a little tricky in the beginning to get each row to end with proper amt of yarn color. Fool a little with tension, number of chains between clusters, and different size hooks. I love the look and Im getting used to which hook to use.
Just meh. I was really looking forward to trying this. The idea of not having to change the colors out with each row was appealing. I tried so many things to make the colors line up. I tightened tension. Loosened tension. Tried different gauge hooks. Watched countless tutorials of people using this yarn. I undid my squares so many times, I finally gave up. I will say I got a lot of practice. Kinda bummed. I really wanted this to work for me. Maybe I got a weird color run or something. Now that I’ve had so much practice, I’ll change the colors out the old fashioned way.
