This system expects me to rate each color that I’ve purchased. Sigh. This is a 4 worsted weight acrylic yarn. Over the last several years Red Heart has gone to a no dye lot system and the colors match year to year. It washes up well. I have been using Red Heart since 1972. It has a few more joins now, but those are easy enough to hide. I use it for crocheted shawls, crocheted afghans, and ski caps made by crochet or a round peg knitting loom. I recommend this yarn
I love RedHeart but I needed a particular yellow to make scarves for the No Kings rally. I certainly didn't want to buy from Target or Amazon for obvious reasons. Well I was able to get enough skeins over a four week period to make 50 scarves. I'm no knitter and I was hit and miss on the pattern and the style but I was so pleased with the feel and look of this yarn.
I am crocheting a blanket right now using the yarn shown here. It is for a baby blanket. I enjoy using this brand for my projects. Soft but not baby soft but soft enough. I try to stock up when this yarn is on sale. My blankets are donated to a Women's Shelter loved and enjoyed by the people using them.
Every color I buy, they want a review. I’ve been using Red Heart and Red Heart super saver since 1972. In the last several years Red Heart has shifted a lot of colors to no dye lot which makes it much more convenient to match yarn colors, even over years. There are a few more joins and some very short thin or flat spots, easily hideable to the back of your project. This is a 4(worsted) weight yarn, a good all around size acrylic yarn for most projects. Wash gentle cycle or hand wash. Do not wring out. Dry flat. I mostly make ski caps (crocheted or made on a knitting peg loom,), shawls (crochet) or afghans (crochet). Durable, doesn’t pill right away. Will recommend.
4 weight acrylic yarn. I've been using Red Heart since 1972. This is a good all around yarn. I recommend for ski caps and sweaters, other clothing, crafts and plastic canvas needlepoint. Last several years they have gone to no dye lot colors, which makes it much easier that your project will match exactly.
I have been using Red Heart since 1966. There was that few years where the Canadian manufacturer quit and some of it was terrible and badly died. They are definitely back to good, a few mid skein joins are easily worked around. The 14 oz skeins mean less joining on very large projects. For this holiday I am on the third of five crocodile scale shawls. Two skeins will almost do the body, and one more will finish the project, do the fringe, and leave enough for a ski hat. The ladies of my family (grandmother, mother, aunts) brought something else in their tote once in awhile, but Red Heart is the one. Crochet, knit, plastic canvas, God’s Eyes, pompoms… Red Heart is the one. It holds up, warm, washable. Acrylic, so no allergies ( I can wear wool with no problem, some can’t even get near something that touched something wool) those with wool, angora, mohair, cashmere issues, will not with Red Heart super saver. In general it’s good about not splitting!
I love the color, the yarn is easy to work with. and will make a beautiful sweater! the only thing I did not like is, so far using 2 skeins, each one had several points where they were tied from breaking before winding. I tried to hide them , but I know they are there. otherwise, it is good color and easy to work.
I just realized that Red Heart Yarns switched back to using their manufacturing in Turkey. Thank goodness. When they changed manufacturers about 5 years ago to India and Mexico, the quality went down. I quit buying it. It was really rough and the dyes they used, especially for the ombre line was horrendous. When I received my yarn today, I was thrilled by the softness of the yarn!! I immediately looked at the label and yelled "Yes, they went back to making it in Turkey. Turkey is famous for their high quality yarn manufacturing. Thanks Red Heart for changing it back. ❤️❤️❤️
Red Heart yarn is great, fair priced yarn. Its one of the top brands for years. Walmart has a wonderful selection of Red Heart yarn colors. The yarn is durable and craft projects made with the Red Heart yarn last for years. Great buy. easy to use with almost any size crochet hook or knitting needles. No knots or tangles. Super overall yarn. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ANY CRAFTER.
It was great. Except I chose the delivery to come to my house, and it was sent to the only other address that was on my account, my son in Denver. So the first order went to Denver and it will cost a lot to have sent back to me. So that was disappointing, because I KNOW I chose my address in TX for delivery!!!
