Red Wing All Natural Leather Conditioner

I have been using this conditioner for years on my leather belt, wallet, work portfolios, and any other leather items that I own. So, while I do not own any boots at this time, I find this to be an excellent conditioner for any of your leather goods.

I have been using this on my Iron Rangers in Copper Rough and Tough and I love it. It does temporarily darken them, but they lighten up real quick again especially with use. I wear my rangers at least 3 days a week.

This is an excellent leather conditioner, and in particular, for my 2950's and 8084's. The former gets a Spring/Autumn/Winter applications followed by the Spray Protector, the latter gets treated with the Boot Oil followed by the Natural Conditioner and only twice yearly. Both pair, after over two years look and feel very happy, and even more importantly . . They keep my feet dry. Nice to be using a product of this nature, and as a tip . . Apply with fingertips as the warmth assists the application !

Used this conditioner on my Iron Rangers 8111. I am completely satisfied with the result. The leather seems to be conditioned well and looks great. It does darken the leather, but not much. As with other conditioners, it seems that it should be used in moderation. I am saying that because it seems to me that people often put too much conditioner on their boots and then complain about the result. A thin layer is enough.

I have been using this since my days on the railroad where the quality of your boot meant the quality of your day. Some would call me a leather snob as I take very good care of all my leather products, especially those that aid in work. Have used a bunch of products and I personally like this mixture the best for both my working leathers (boots, shoes, belts, sheaths etc) and non-working (shoes, bags, belts, wife's boots and purses). Great product, if you have not tried it, give it a go. Clean leather good, allow to dry, work into leather and all seams and stitches very well, allow to sit for a few minutes or hours and then buff off with a clean rag. Touch up as often as needed. I do a full rework on all my leathers in heavy rotation each changing of the season.

Loving my new Red Wing Iron Ranger 8085s! Great all round casual boot for the city and the mountains. I'm Australian and have a range of RM Williams boots. Can I use my RM Natural Conditioner on Red Wings? They are a beeswax based conditioner also??

I used so many products, incl my own natural boot wax. This is perfect, the consistancy is very good, not too thick. The wax does penetrate the leather and forms a fine condioner to the elements. My system is that I use the Natual Boot oil for full all year round condioning of the leather (the full grain) and this wax as a fall/winter protection agains rain, wet grass, snow and mud. No mineral oil and silicone added, so that is what we want on our finest leathers! The tin is a small batch, thats a shame, but I guess the ingedients are the finest on the market. Beeswax, mink oil and fine refined pine tar are expensive products in itself. Made in the USA, so we keep the knowledge and crafts local.

I have a little warning: Since it does not contain any preservatives, it can become rancid. I bought mine about 5 years ago and applied it to my Classic Moc and liked it. Since I don't wear the boots much, today was the next time I wanted to use it and realized only after applying the first bit that it stank awfully. It had gotten fully rancid. It was stored at room temperature. Don't make the same mistake and check if yours is still good before using it, or get a new one.

So, is not used an oil on my boots yet, as I purchased the all natural with the boots. With the beeswax added, I'd say there are a couple of pros and cons. The pros: additional water resistance that comes with the nice seal procided by the wax. This should - in theory - help provide some additional protection and longevity as well. The only real con is that the wax does what wax does. As it cools, it will solidify and create a thin matte layer. In heavy flex areas it will crack and flake. This you can really only see on close inspection. My solution was to apply, wear them for a bit, then take my brush back to them to remove the excess flaked wax. I plan to purchase some mink oil to use as well for the next clean/oil. My thoughts are to apply a base layer of oil then this product for a nice supple feel as well as the added protection.

This was the Redwing recommended conditioning product for my boot with a Copper Rough and Tough finish. I applied a very small amount to the boot's surface, and it darkened the boot far beyond it's original color: it basically turned it into uniform brown, nothing like the rich original appearance.
