Works as labeled way cheaper than the dealership
This item appeared of good quality and the instructions were clear enough. You can tell the quality in part by just how heavy it is (25 lbs). However the distance between the cross bars on my car kept it from being a fit.
I just installed this on my Forester earlier today, and I have to say, I was impressed with everything inside the box. Complete instructions, nicely organized hardware, correct amounts of screws, etc.. This basket has the look and feel of a high dollar basket. We'll see how it holds up over the next few months, but as for a first impression, I'm blown away!
We bought this roof rack to go on my Suburban for a trip from Michigan to Georgia and back. I was initially dreading putting this on my vehicle as I really like for my vehicle to look a certain way. Surprisingly, this roof rack looks awesome on the Suburban and I have decided to leave it on full time. I get complements on a regular basis about how much more rugged this makes the vehicle look! Aside from looks, the roof rack was simple to put together and install on the vehicle and is easy to find good tie down points for. It is best to stack anything you're putting in from shortest to tallest because the shape of the front piece helps to deflect air over the top of your gear.
You will have to adjust or cut the bolt for attaching to your vehicle depending on your car top crossbars.
It's a good solid rack and it's designed for crossbars such as I have on my Subaru Impreza. Walmart's helpful roof rack guide said this would not work on my Subaru, but I would like to ensure the readers that was an exact fit. Easy to assemble, although, one of the flat bottom self-tapping screws would not align with the hole. I substituted a pointed tip screw. My main complaint is I would have liked it to be a bit longer. It seems that if you want another six to eight inches the price doubles for these products
well when I first opened the box I noticed two locations where the paint was chipped off of the frame and second of all the wind guard that goes on the front is made of plastic which I did not know until after we had installed it onto the roof of the truck and that was a huge huge disappointment that they would make a wind guard out of plastic thin plastic that any Rock we'll just demolish among other things that were just smash that to pieces it'll just spot up with water it's a horrible idea that they made that out of plastic and I wished I'd seen that first off or I've never would have put it on the truck I'm contemplating taking it off the truck and spending 2 hours to go to Walmart and return the thing and an hour and a half taking it back down off the truck it's just really makes me mad that they would lack quality like that on an item that obviously should have been metal aluminum something other than plastic
It was nicely built, after I spent an hour putting it together. It did not adjust to fit my 2017 Toyota Highlander which was bummer!
Mine had a hole in the front where a top bar was welded. An imperfection of the build I guess. It went unnoticed until the tubes filled up with rusty water and started leaking all over the top and down the side of my car. I have lots of pics of it but there's no way to post them.
I am sorely disappointed in the way this basket is designed. The only thing that holds it together are small screws which tap themselves into holes (one lost it's threads on me) I think stainless steel bolts with locknuts would have been a much better build. This product is not stainless steel along with not being waterproof. A week of rainy weather has caused deep rust on my rack. I will be returning it this week.
