My psychiatrist tried me on several different combinations of sleep meds but the best one that works for me is Ambien. I also sleep with eye masks to block out light. For the last 2-3 years, I used just silk eye masks for sleep and my ketamine therapy sessions and that was fine. Then I realized (shortly after starting ambien and/or going up on my dosage of that but I stopped dreaming. And generally, I'm a really vivid dreamer, like every night. They're not usually very good dreams (never have been) but they're at least interesting. I started going down the rabbit hole of maybe I could work on inducing lucid dreaming and could make them come back that way. I found this eye mask that is “supposed” to help you induce lucid dreams with the timing of lights inside the mask that go off at certain intervals throughout the night that theoretically should match up with your REM sleep cycles. I will say this: I've yet to have a lucid dream yet from wearing this mask BUT I have had dreams that I can remember pretty much every night since I got this mask. And my sleep quality has improved. I used to have to sleep in so long because I was just so fatigued. I'm naturally waking up 2-3hours earlier on my own and feeling rested. I might still need a nap later in the day but this mask does help a lot. (I'm chronically ill with daily migraines so I have to rest a lot.)
It's just a light on a timer and it's not bright enough to really have an effect even if it does time itself right. I thought this was like the old induction glasses that sense movement and detect rem sleep. This is a crap shoot.
Doesn't work and it's just a cheap toy.
