Was looking to replace a shaver that had died. Exact same brand, wasn't so concerned about the price, but needed it to arrive quickly. Went to the store to purchase one, and then came home and ordered online. Wish I would've done the online first.
I'm very impressed with this product because it is the only one that makes my shaving very easy and smooth on my skin. I also love that it's not so loud and reduces the noise and it is painless. I would recommend it to everyone who shaves.
All my life I've been using a blade razor to shave and I just got tired of paying so much blades and buying them so often. I decided it's a better bargain and better for the environment to use an electric shaver. Remington is a trusted name so I was happy to give this a go. I was a little disappointed when I opened the box to find the shaver doesn't come with a carrying case, that would have been a nice option but I'm sure I can find something to use. Then I looked around for the manual. I'm one of those people who likes to read the manual before I use something, no manual. I knew it would have to be charged up, so I plugged it in and sent an email and quickly got an email back with a pdf file of the manual. That's when I discovered that along with the shaver, the stand and the charging cord there was also supposed to be a cleaning brush. I knew there was no cleaning brush or I would have seen it while I was searching for the manual. I gave them a call and they are sending me the brush in the mail. I should receive it in 7 to 10 days. I do have to say, I like the shaver, it does a pretty nice job. It gave me a very smooth clean shave. I have some stubborn spots in my beard where the hair goes all wonky and curls around. It was always tough to get those spots with a blade but by moving this shaver around in different directions it gave me about the closest shave I've had. I was worried that I might have trouble cleaning it before the cleaning brush arrived. I'm not sure if I'll really need the cleaning brush as long as I use it as a dry shaver. When I pulled the guard off to clean it, there was a lot of fine stubble inside but it all washed away very cleanly. I actually was shocked at how easily it cleaned up and it only took a few seconds to rinse it clean. I was really impressed with this feature. I used to shave in the shower, one of the reasons I wanted an electric shaver was so I could conserve water and not shave in the shower. I did give it a test with the wet shave, it was nice, it slides more easily along the face, I don't think the shave is any closer but maybe a little faster. After watching guys shave on TV and in the movies I had the impression that it was much faster to shave with an electric shaver and maybe it is if you have a normal beard. For me it's not faster, it takes about 10 minutes to shave and get every spot. I'm still a beginner and the directions say that it can take 2 to 3 weeks before your face gets used to an electric shaver. I suppose with practice I'll cut down on the shaving time. Another feature that I really like is the flip out trimmer, it really does the trick on the sideburns and that little spot under my nose where the shaver couldn't reach. It pops out quickly, zip, zip, trim, trim and I'm done. I wish I'd gotten one of these years ago, think of all the water I would have saved and all the money on disposable blades. This seems like a no brainer investment now that I have it. I am really happy with it, I'm sure you'd enjoy having this razor or if you buy it for a gift it will mean a lot to the guy who's going to use it. I bet he thinks of you every time he shaves.
Its hard to write a review on a product like this after only 2 weeks, because it doesn't get used often enough. But I will tell you how its going so far. I haven't had any problems with this product yet. I have not had any pulling or scratching, so you get a clean shave. Its suppose to have a quieter motor than usual and I would have to agree, it does run a bit smoother and quieter than other product I have used before. It has a pivoting head that I would say for the most part pivots smoothly. My favorite part is the detail trimmer, it has so far been a comfortable use. It comes partially charged so you don't have to wait as long to use it. It says its washable and you can run it under the faucet which I have not done yet. It is a little bulky, but its comfortable enough to hold and it gets the job done. It has an LED light to let you know when it is fully charged so you can clearly see when its ready to be used. Over all I would say its a good product for the price.

When I first received this razor, I took it out and immediately starting shaving my face. I'm thinking "oh heck, this is pulling my hairs out of my face. This can't be good", but then I came out of my fog and fully charged it. After it was fully charged, I tried it again with success this time. It shaved really smooth. This charges pretty fast and I was able to just rinse it off under running water. This works great and the only downside I could find was that the cover that you hold in your hand doesn't grip well. It feels like a cheap plastic. Some I've used has a rubbery feel that allows a solid grip but not this one so I deducted a star for that. Overall it's well worth the $ it costs for this and if I was in need of one while I was on the road, this would be the one I'd buy as I now know it's a close shave. You'll know when the battery get's low because it will pull your face hair but fully charged, it's great. I asked my Granddaughter to hold this and tell me how smooth my face felt. She said "your face feels so smooth Papaw". That is the picture I uploaded with this.
the remington 4 is a good shaver for the average beard. my husband has a heavy tough beard and has never found a electric razor that will last or cut his beard. he has to go over a spot eight times to get a clean cut.the instructions do say to shave every day for the first 30 days weather you need to or not we are hoping it will work better as time goes on. he has not gotten razor burn from shaving with the razor. with hand held razors he gets razor burn, and cuts very badly. the design is great makes it easy to hold and operate. there is another bad thing when you take the head off to clean the razor one or both blades do come off. don't panic the blade will snap right back in place. this razor i very easy to clean. just pop off the head. in side will be two little blades use the little brush to clean them right into the waste basket. this to me means no more messy beard dregs left all over the bathroom sink yuck. i think offering other colors like silver, green ect.. would be nice and something new. as far as durability i think the razor will last a little better then average. the only thing i worry about is the blade coming off half of the time if this might be bad for them.
I'm disappointed in this Remington shaver. It takes forever to get a clean shave (after only 3 days of stubbles) and it has a tendency to pull my whiskers at times, hurting my skin, even after I have applied a pre=shave lotion to my face. I would not recommend this shaver.
This razor gives a nice shave, but not easy to clean. When you take it apart to clean - it was too easy to drop the small parts. Sometimes they even fell out. The shave itself was nice, but my husband is used to the rotary shaver (his has three heads) and he prefers it. It could be if your are younger and have more nimble fingers the cleaning will not be a problem. But he has arthritic fingers and it was too hard.
This thing literally rips hair out of your face -painful!! I trim around a beard and if you get close to longer hairs it will cut them off or pull them out. At first I thought it was the cutter bar in the middle so I removed it since it just pops out and that helped, but the problem persisted. It not only snags longer hair at the ends of the foil but also pull out stubble. If I can not return it, it is going in the trash. Also the cord plugs in and uplugs with much difficulty, as if they are not meant to be mated or miss-matched. This makes the 5th Remington razor I have bought over the years, but it looks like it might be the last. Sadly disappointed :(
