I bought a Remington 4790 electric razor several years ago. Last week one of the screens broke through, so I searched around and found the one that was the right replacement screens, (but also had new shaving heads) with the best price at Walmart . I ordered it site to store to save shipping, which made it take an extra week, but they sent a notice to my email when it was ready, we picked it up no problems, and it works like new again. I like the razor because the head pivots, and the individual screens are spring-loaded so it works around my chin well.
I have used foil shavers for many years and replaced the screens and cutters when the screen wore a hole in it. The replacement screen/cutter assembly would cost over $20. The new shaver uses a different assembly which is much less expensive but only available online. Some places wanted to charge $8 for shipping this 2 ounce package. Walmart had a low price and shipped to the store to be picked up at a much smaller cost. With this shaver, the performance difference with the new assembly was huge - smoother, faster and more comfortable and the screens were already mounted in a new head.
Had no idea how “dull” the original cutters had become. New cutters provide much closer shave. Original screen had worn thin and finally split open with ragged edges that was only noticeable shaving which resulted in a scratch before I realized it had torn. Now rub the screens before using.
The replacement blades and foil work fine but don't seem to last as long as the original. Typically I can get six months out of a replacement shaving five days a week while the original lasted twice as long. Makes one wonder if the old theory of giving the razor away to sell them the blades has now invaded the electric shaver market? Once, the replacement must have been damaged as the foil wore through in just about a month. Yet, that was the exception not the rule.
Replacement foils and blades for electric razors are standard fare. I bought the razor at Walmart, after looking at which ones they had several of in stock, and which ones they had replacement foils and blades on the shelf. VERY disappointing to find the no longer carry this brand of replacement foils. Probably will buy my next razor somewhere else.
For those of us who don't live close to a Walmart to pick up items for free the $5 shipping seems a little steep as a percentage of the cost of the item (33%) or of the total cost (25%). However, the total cost was still less than other sites. So...still a good deal.
I have ordered this product from a variety of sources in the past. Wal-Mart's price is comparable to what is available at other discount sources. However, from the time I ordered the product until the time it was available at my local store using the 'To Store' pickup, two weeks had elapsed. This is an unreasonably long time as compared to other sources. Although I will continue to use this product, I will order from other sources in the future.
This Product is made of cheap material compared to the original one that the shaver came with. The cutter rollers will come lose and are thinner thn original ones. foil feels very rough on skin. it irritated my skin right away. Remington is not making these shavers as they used to.
I bought two of these replacement foils less than a month ago and I am already on the second one. Problem: On the third use the foil frayed and shredded my face. I always shave with a razor, but I got the electric shaver for the days that I don't have a lot of time. I can only hope the second one lasts a LOT longer. The worse thing was, I could not tell it was scratching me. It just felt like my face was a little irritable. I wish I had a picture to show you... but needless to say, I won't be buying Remington in the future.
Doesn't cut well at all, even when absolutely new, even when the F3900 shaver is fully charged (and even though I paid close attention to the instructions to avoid bending the cutters). I know it's not me and not even all Remington products, because a PF7500 shaver with a new screen (SPF-PF) cuts fine. (I have 2 shavers due to inheriting them.)
