Nice POE camera

anonymous July 25, 2025

Very nice POE camera. I like that it is local to the LAN and does not go to "the cloud". Nice picture quality and object recognition.

Outstanding quality.

Just moved house so I ordered more of these Reolink cameras. At my previous address, one of these cameras came in handy when reporting a fly-tipper. Council representative was impressed with the recorded footage and it was subsequently used to obtain a conviction. I personally use a Synology NAS for recording, however a couple of colleagues speak highly of the Reolink DVR.

Not sure why the negative reviews?

Cameras are amazing. Have 2 systems with the 5mp cams and they're extremely clear. Can read license plates and see faces clearly. Wish it didn't have those two extra things hanging off the wire. A bit bothersome. Mounted outside a waterfront home and have held up very well.

Good Camera, Good Brand.

Steve August 18, 2025

I am pleased with this purchase. I give the purchase four stars instead of five because of three minor annoyances. Before I describe them let me explain that I am not deploying this camera outside for surveillance. It is quite capable of that. I am not mounting it on a wall or a ceiling. I place it on a windowsill looking outside from the inside. For this deployment I did not need to separate the mounting plate from the body of the camera. But, while following the instructions of pressing and turning the mount plate while holding the camera, I could not separate the two. That was my first annoyance. The second annoyance came when I tried to use the waterproof enclosure seal for the Ethernet cable. If one chooses to use it one must use the cable provided with the camera. I first tried using my own cable because it was the length I required. But one must use the provided cable because only it has a narrow enough cross section to pass through the hole in the casing of the seal. With any other cable the plug is too large to pass through. The third annoyance came when I sought to deploy a micro SD card into the camera. The slot for the card has a plastic cover on it held by tiny screws in two recessed holes. An AI chatbot explained to me that I would most likely need a Philips %230 or Philips %2300 screwdriver to remove the screws. I have not been able to open that memory card cover because I am still waiting for delivery of these special screwdrivers that I had to order. What pleases me about the camera is the client to control it. I purchased a Reolink camera precisely because it provides a Windows operating system client to control it. I don't have a smart phone and Android emulators for the Windows operating system are not perfect. But I am not using the Windows operating system to use the camera. I am using Linux. I needed the Windows client to activate the RSTP feature of the camera. I chose the Reolink RCL-520A because I wanted this RSTP feature in a POE camera. The client also enabled me to disable the infrared night vision. I needed to do that because the glare of the infrared light reflected off the glass on the interior of the window. I have motion activated lights deployed outside the window in the view of the camera which provide sufficient light for the camera to record at night. The picture quality at night is good black %26 white. During daylight the picture quality is good color. The camera works well using either the Windows client to control it or ffmpeg in Linux.

Dome Camera

Peter July 30, 2023

Camera stopped working after a couple of months. Even with the defective camera under warranty, the company still required a $15 payment for the replacement camera...strange business practice.

No Help, wrong item description on their site

Michael January 7, 2026

I worked with real links troubleshooting department and they couldn't figure the problem out. I was told these cameras would work with the system I had and they won't. I spent 2 days trying to get them to work with the system with no luck and the agent just quit working with me.

Do not buy! I've been trying to return in a walmart store because the cameras are not worth the price beings they don't come with everything needed to use or install them but it will not let me return at a walmart store because it is saying items were shipped from different sellers but they are not! They all came from same place at the same time!!
