Poor construction
This globe had potential, but all its good qualities come to naught because of the small gray PLASTIC piece that connects the globe to the base. It can't support the weight of the globe and the metal breaks as SOON as you take it out of the box. Our students never even had a chance to touch it. We had this globe replaced four times, and every one was the same. One was broken even before we took it out of the box. Unless you want to use the globe without a stand, avoid this purchase
