The medium pier is triangular and frees up space in tank compared to the large rectangular option. I ordered the large and replaced it with this item. I can enjoy watching turtle while allowing him room to hide with this option. I have 29 gallon tank and this is perfect.

Works but could be better
This is just ok. My turtle doesn't really like it. The ramp doesn't stay down nor does it connect to the unit. It is supposed to slide to connect to the unit but it doesn't. It just floats.
