I have successfully used vinyl repair kits, like this one, through the years. This purchase was used for a torn bicycle seat. In the past, I've had good results on car upholstery, too. Everything I needed was included. There is also a mixing chart for the color-mixing challenged. The instructions are easy to follow, and included tips for padding cavities under a repair and backing larger tears. It also suggested that a thin coat of Vasoline on the texture template is useful. I substituted lip balm.
Will be using soon on my chair, just haven't got around to it yet.
I bought it to repair a leather sofa that had been damaged, it had a hole punched into it when I moved. I was able to repair the hole and it was not too hard to match the color. well worth the cost.
I am glad I was asked to review this product...a chance to vent. First, the instructions/labeling are poor; second, the product does not cover the very smallest wear/tear areas (1/8-1/4"), which show through the mess; and third, it does not dry. I put it on yesterday afternoon; this morning it is still sticky. (Supposed to dry in 20 minutes!) It looks so bad, I am now faced with probably buying a new sofa.
Although I received the repair kit several weeks ago, I did not open it or attempt to use it until last weekend. The intended repair (grey vinyl) required that black and white be mixed together. When opening the white material I found it to be hardened and on one side of the container. The activator container was over half empty as was the release agent. Therefore, I could not even attempt the repair. I need a replacement container of white material, activator and also release agent. At this point, I have paid for something that I can't use.
This made my couch look even worse. the chemicals that were supposed to be blended to make the first clear bond, one was solidified and couldn't be dug out of the little container. I should have stopped there, but I was determined and ended up making a huge mess that solidified very quickly and is just horrible.
It says dries in 20 minutes but three days later, still not dry!!!!
The white color that is the base for all your mixing of colors was hard as a rock, completely dried up! And the Activating Gel was a gooey rubbery clump. Kit was completely useless! I sent an email to the manufacturer with no response. I suggested that the kits have an expiration date.
Product did not work as it said and was very messy
It was messy and the epoxy was hard before even mixing it.
