Great TV for the price

Tinabear12 November 15, 2014

I got this when it was on sale for $199. My best friend didn't have a TV and the sale price on this was good enough that I was able to get her a 40 inch instead of a 32 inch or less. So far she loves it, I've watched it a few times with her and the sound is great, picture is great.

Not 1 but 2 !

RobbD October 28, 2015

My partner and I previously owned 2 smaller LED HDTVs, but decided last week to upgrade the smaller set. Our closest Walmart store did not have one of these units mounted and operating, but based on comments by another customer in the store, we decided to buy this unit. It took perhaps 15 minutes to assemble the base, make various connections, and program our cable box remote to operate the new set. As soon as we wee able to quickly view a few channels, we were amazed at the brilliant STD and HD picture quality. We were impressed so much so that we drove right back to Walmart and bought a 2nd unit to replace our other older set. All that is left to do is purchase a couple of VESA conversion plates to attach both units to our existing articulating wall mounts. One unit has no peripherals connected to it. The other, however, has a ROKU box and a Blue Ray player connected to HDMI ports, a VCR connected to the Component input, and a desktop PC connected to be used as a monitor from a distant chair. Everything works a treat !!! We would encourage anyone to take advantage of the great price of an excellent TV. They may not be "smart" TVs, but they're smart enough for us. :-)

Good Beginner TV

civilengineer7 August 2, 2014

Bought this TV about a month ago for the living room in my one bedroom apartment. The couch is about 8 feet away and this 40" TV is the perfect size. Mine is hanging on the wall. Hanging it was easy. Got HD cable from the local provider. Picture quality of regular channels is ok, and picture quality of HD is quite good. What has really surprised me is the sound quality. No its not Dolby Surround by any means, but it is very clear and loud. The volume goes to 100 but I never find myself needing to have it higher than 6 or 7. So far it has been a very good TV for the money.

very good tv

wanderz April 27, 2016

bought this tv last week. for the price i'm very impressed.... actually picture wise it's as good as any of the other tvs. yeah as many have said, the sound is not exactly great, but honestly it's not that bad, just don't expect movie cinema surround sound quality, actually if you turn on the "surround sound" option in the menu it sounds considerably worse. it does have both a digital audio out and "headphone" output that can be used for external speakers or connecting to a home theater system if you want better sound. i don't have cable tv, but for 1080p movies on my connected computer with the PC input / vga (what i bought it for) it works great, also works great with consoles via hdmi. the buttons are in an easy to reach spot, and labeled unlike my last two tvs (one being a samsung 52" that died) which made setup easier. i almost didn't buy it because the one in the store looked pretty bad, but i decided to check the settings and they were set really badly, even just putting it back to "default" was a huge improvement, then a little more adjustment and it looked as good as the other much more expensive tvs. the picture was taken with a $20 android phone, it's the picture that's blurry not the tv. :)

Great Price, Great TV

Katie September 23, 2015

The Element 40 inch LED Television is no jaw dropping TV but if you are on a college budget and looking for something that has a good image, clear sound, and is easy to assemble then this is the TV for you. As college students my roommates and I were looking for a cheaper TV that would fill our large living room. Since all of us are really busy with school and other activities none of us really have time to sit and watch that much so we really didn't want to spend a lot on something that we wouldn't be using that much. We were a little skeptical about the quality because of the price but since we didn't want to spend a lot, we took the gamble. This television was a good fit because it is large enough to fill that space but was at an affordable price. The picture quality is not the best but if you adjust the screen size then it makes it easier to see. Even though we have it about 10 feet away from our couch the sound is very crisp and clear. The volume can get really loud and when it is on the lower volumes so it's great for filling a big space. This TV is extremely lightweight so it was easy to move into our apartment. It came with a stand that was really easy to assemble. It took us no more than a half hour to get it set up. Another plus side about it is that it was assembled in America. Overall for this TV I give it a 4 out of 5 rating because it is a cheaper made TV that is not perfect but for the money that we paid for it, it was a good purchase. For the first few weeks that we have had it we are extremely happy with the money that we spent. I would recommend this to other college friends or to people that want a usable TV for a reasonable price.

Well At Least Element Pays Shipping Costs!

Superfrank December 6, 2015

I bought this 40" Element because I had a 32" that I used as a computer monitor. The 32' has been great. The 40" that I bought to replace the 32" as a monitor not so great. The 32" is now in my bedroom and is still going strong after 3 years. I read online that the larger Element TVs weren't all that great. I bough one just the same based on my experience with the 32". So the 40" died after 99 days. I use it as a monitor and as such the thing runs a minimum of 9 hours a day, just about every day as I am a construction estimator and do all of my work remotely from home. So here's where I'm at. I called customer service for Element, they were great. The told me to send them a picture of the front, back, and serial plate , along with my receipt. No problem given smart phones. I put the box in the shed when I bought it and will ship it back to them in the factory box. So here are my recommendations> 1) We live in a throw away society, nothing lasts . 2) keep the box 3) Buy a warranty which I did, It wont kick in till next year, they pay to ship & fix or replace. 4) The first year make sure the TV company pays for shipping to warranty the unit, Element Does. Other wise it's on your dollar. 5) Have a backup, I'm buying another Element for reasons 1-4. 6) Stuff happens, it'll take 5-6 weeks to get my warranty TV back, just the way it is. Buy a backup and don't stress about it, buy a warranty and don't stress about it. When it comes to big TVs, make sure the company pays to ship it back for repairs in the first year, otherwise don't buy it, or just buy a new one it'll probably cost you the same and you'll have a TV/monitor. I looked at the Sceptre TV, good reviews, but if it breaks you pay to ship it! Sorry I'm buying another Element. I heard recently that Element is moving their big TV manufacturing back to the US. Right now I think they all come out of South Carolina. US jobs, I'm all for that! It sucks that it broke, but stuff happens!

bad buy

Anonymous November 21, 2014

I purchased this tv 4 months ago. It started going off and on by itself. Then when I turned it off, there was a red light that stayed on. I did call customer service. I was told YES it is under warranty. But after 3 emails, back and forth. Sending pictures of the tv, front and back, and pictures of the tv box all sides , I received the bad news, telling me where to ship it for repairs...California. I live in Kentucky..... It would cost over $500.00 for shipment both ways. Then I would have to buy Insurance, which would be more money. I would not recommend this tv. :(

Analog Tuner ONLY!

ReturningUnit April 8, 2015

This unit DOES NOT have a digitial channel scanner, only Analog. For those of you like me who only have basic cable, that have some digitial channels your outta luck if you buy this as this unit will not scan those digitial channels - even "over the air" digital.

No Digital Tuner

VeryMad January 9, 2016

I went to Walmart just looking to get a decent tv that wasn't too expensive but would get the job done. This one was well priced and seemed to have all the same features as the bigger name brands. However as soon as I got it home I discovered that it does not have a digital tuner! Therefore I was only able to pick up about 12 channels when I should get closer to 80. When I called my cable provider, they told me that most of the TVs at Walmart do not have this capability, therefore you must also purchase a converter in order to get all of the channels. Upon further research I discovered that this one model of the TV is basically the only one that does not have it! Almost all other sizes of the Element TVs have a digital tuner, but for some reason the 40 inch does not. This is very poor design and it has caused me a lot more trouble than necessary. Make sure you look into the TV you buy because just because it says it's "digital" does not actually mean anything apparently!!!

NO digital tuner!

Nowayelementtv January 1, 2017

Read the reviews and should have listened, this TV DOES NOT have a QAM tuner. Thus, it does not receive digital channels from cable without a separate converter box. Basically, it will scan with an antenna or you have to have a separate converter box from cable or dish or you get one channel. I didn't believe it could be true, but it is. I have an older 32" Emerson, basic cheap LCD TV and it has a DIGITAL CONVERTER. So read the reviews, don't waste money or time and don't buy this TV! If you have, take it back and get your money back ....
