This is a good product. I was looking for something to get the smell of mothballs out of a blanket and It worked! Read the directions for the best results. I also washed an old quilt in it and the way it brightened the fabric up was amazing.!
This product really works well, especially if you have the warmth of the sun to help it do its magic. It works much better with the sunlight to boost its power. I've revived a number of antique quilts and other keeper textiles by following the instructions carefully on the packaging. Don't try to shortcut the process. If you do, you won't be happy with the results.
I am only rating this as I've known this product for years. It is the best stain removal for water stains. I'm going to try it on water-stained silk next :^) I'm so confident it will work on the silk stain.
This cleaner works extremely well at removing years of grunge and yellowness or browness from vintage dresses and garments and brings the true color back. A simply wonderful product and a must have for the lover of vintage garments. This is also easy to use, just soak with a mix of water and Retro Clean for 2 days, then rinse.
I had an antique 1910's Edwardian white cotton dress with soap and rust-like stains all over it. I needed a cleaner I could trust to not "eat away" at the delicate fabric. After a soak in Retro Clean, all stains were 95% gone, and it looked like a new dress. I've used it again on other pre-1960's materials and had the same wonderful results. Amazing stuff!
This product is awesome! It cleaned my antique linen beautifully! Highly recommend!
This is a great cleaning powder. I buy old quilts soak them for 48 hours and they are 90-100% clean. Highly recommend.
This is a miracle worker! Never thought it would clean the water/rust stain from an inherited quilt, but it did!
I used Retro Clean in a 5-gallon bucket because I have a lot of linens that are vintage. Some are yellowed and some with stains. I soaked for 48 hours and placed the bucket outside in the sunshine. Most were brightened and whiter. Some were not changed very much. Overall I would give it an 8 out of 10 for efficacy. Easy to use and I will use it again.
I was expecting this to remove yellowing from some napkins. Based on all the positive reviews, I had high hopes. My mother's mix of lemon and salt did a better job and for way less.
