It was our first boil as a Family and my son wanted to try "crawdads" crawfish. He had caught them up at my dads house by the little creek that runs by his home. I was going in blind as Im not big on any kind of seafood but wanted this to be the best family boil ever! Choosing Ricelands Crawfish was spot on! They were as close to fresh as could be, beautiful color and my son was a very happy young man. So Ricelands Crawfish was a huge hit with our Family Boil.
These crawfish are above an beyond delicious in my opinion. Seasoned to perfection. No abundance of salt. Thank Goodness. just the right seasoning, better than Seafood Restaurants in my opinion. Large sizes an very fresh. Now I dont know if they are seasonal, or year round availability but I plan to stock up asap. Thank You.
I was going to NOT recommend this item…..so it will always be available every time i shop. It's actually a hit and miss in every bag, sometimes they're small and sometimes they're big in size. Easy recipe…. Water (use a big pot) Add in, butter, chili flakes, chopped garlic, and lots of old bay seasoning Add sweet corn on the cob and hotlinks Let water boil Then add in the crawfish for about 5-8 minutes. Thats it….enjoy!!!!
I used to live in SE Texas and ate a lot of boiled crawfish in my day. Done right they are really addictive, especially if you enjoy spicy seafood. I never thought I'd be able to buy frozen, pre-cooked-boiled crawfish that was acceptable, but I was wrong. I've only bought these once and I boiled them on the stove top with some additional crawfish boil spices until heated through and they were great! If you love spicy, boiled crawfish then you'll love these. After I boiled the crawfish I used the same water to boil some frozen shrimp and they also turned out very flavorful (3 minutes max boiling time). Here's a hint for eating boiled crawfish without the struggle. 1. Twist off the whole tail. Some of the "crawfish butter" will naturally be attached to the meat. You'll want to eat it all. 2. With your fingernail break off the 1st segment of the tail shell (closest to the broken/body end) and remove it. It comes off quite easily. Only remove that 1st segment of shell. 3. Once the 1st segment of the tail shell is removed just squeeze the flipper end of the tail and the meat with just pop out to be eaten.
I've been trying to order these online for residential delivery and their ALWAYS OUT OF STOCK but thankfully the Store Manager for some and I was able to have delivered next day! My daughter absolutely LOVES these Crawfish in her Seafood Boils Hopefully Walmart will start purchasing more then 6 bags, every time they reorder?? Just a idea
Pro - Great value for the price! Pro - There was a decent amount of reasonable size crawfish in the bunch. Con - Crawfish were fairly clean, but some were coated in a black grime that looked nasty. Pro - Although the grime didn't rinse completely off some, the meat inside shell was clean, and tasted ok. Pro - Most of the veins were purged clean and came out pretty easy from most by piching tails and lightly pulling it straight out. Pro - Flavor was actually better than most store bought frozen crawfish I've had so far. End thoughts - Although no comparison to live crawfish, these are a reasonable substitute when live are not in season. I will definitely try them again. Now I have an expectation, so they better be the same quality as my first round or better.
I do have to add a little more spice to them for my liking. The one bad thing is that you get almost a cup or more of loose legs that are of course inedible but sadly adds to the weight of the package. As a presentation item, they are good, but you might just look for peeled tails and add your own spice.
The 3lb. Bag i received had wonderful sized crawfish, but they were way to muddy. Should have cleaned these before they cooked and seasoned them. I love crawfish and eat them a plenty, and these should have been cleaned and prepped before they were packaged. The internal meat was grey from the mud. So i called them mud bugs instead of crawfish. I would have returned these had i not already opened the bag to steam them for supper. I've bought this same brand many many times now, and I've never seen them come like this before. A bit upsetting at their qualities this time around. But i had them delivered and no way of knowing they were like this till i took them out of freezer to have for dinner.
I expected a better product, given that it's advertised as being from Louisiana. The crawfish comes pre-cooked and seasoned, but the taste can be offputting at times. I frequently find some very dirty mudbugs. I wonder if they even purge them before cooking. While it's not cheap at $5 a pound, there aren't many other options when they're out of season.
No indeed it should be a crime selling this mess It's not worth it at all Promise you If you never had real deal Louisiana crawfish from Louisiana are someone from Louisiana you will never understand I will wait until Crawfish season when it starts at the end of December
