Riddle Story Of Devil: The Complete Series - S.A.V.E. (DVD), Funimation Prod, Anime

At first glance this story sounds like it is an action thriller. It is not. It does have action sequences, but it really is a character study of all the assassins and the victim herself. They are all enrolled in the same class and all fully aware of the situation. The only person that does not know is the completely innocent teacher. The assassination attempt is more of a contest than a contract, where all of the assassins are vying for the prize of whatever they want, if successful. Before they strike, they are required to notify the victim by means of a card that is deemed the "Final Notice". The story revolves around one of the assasins whom decides she wants to protect the target rather than kill her and the target herself. So it becomes two against all the rest. Along the way, the viewer finds out about the characters and their motivation to win. Some noble and some not so. Later on the purpose of all that is happening is revealed. The ending looks like it is going one way and then turns the corner. I needed to watch it a few times to get a better grasp on what happened. It becomes very heartfelt. An extremely engaging tale.
