I have used a lot of small notebooks with different types of waterproof paper. You just cannot beat the feel of a nice ball point pen on Rite in the Rain's paper. I absolutely love it. The pocket size notebooks are smaller than other leading competitors as well, which I thoroughly enjoy.
Excellent! I use these for my field notes, measurements, drawings etc. I'm a master carpenter business owner in Seattle Washington. These are the best grid layout notebooks there are. I keep them all in my office and reference years back. Pretty cool addition to my craft. Thank you.
I've been using them for years. . . I would hate to not be able to get them! I frequently refer to my past records.
I bought this for a garden journal for a large native garden. After several "maps" got left out for a rainy night. I need a ton of writing space for native species observations, plant bloom observations, etc. this has been fantastic. It is sturdy, it has seen mud, compost, and everything in between. I wish I had more of them and likely will soon.
I have a condition called hyperhidrosis also known as excessive sweat in my hands and throughout my years in school I've ruined so many papers I had to turn in as well as books I've needed for this product for so many years! LET ME TELL YOU IT IS A LIFESAVER i now don't feel uncomfortable about taking notes or handwriting an essay for school . I am so thankful that my spouse is in the military and introduced me to this Please is you suffer for sweaty hands this is truly the best product on the market
I have been using these for about a year. The main reason for my purchase was the strength of the paper. I abuse my notebooks and I did not want the cover and paper to tear out, I constantly take them in and out of my back pack and use them on construction sites daily. These have surpassed my expectations for durability. Yesterday I was able to test them in the rain. It was pouring and I had to measure and draw a layout of a deck. Paper was no issue and today the pad is dry and flat!!! I would highly recommend the pens, I didn't have one yesterday and I had to use multiple regular pens. Again Great Product well worth the $$$
As a garden designer in Oregon, my large format rite in the rain spiral notebook saves the day throughout the many rainy days in the fall, winter and spring. I can stand out there in the rain writing notes, taking measurements and generally getting soaked and yet, I can still read my notes when I get home. It's truly a wonder. Where have you been all my life? I like the universal markings that allow me to use it like a grid to draw up an area.
I do not ever give full 5/5 product reviews in the hopes that someone reading will believe I'm not a bot or a paid reviewer. I have used Rite in the Rain's products in two career fields now- once in the US Army, and now once as a private contractor for CONUS military installations. I served 8 years in the heavy rocket artillery in marsh, swamp, scrubland, and desert environments, and these notebooks consistently took the beating bestowed upon them. Some even had bits of MRE, blood, shaving cream (though shaving cream destroyed the spider's glue, I think) and engine oil spilled on their pages and survived unscathed. They are not, however, perfect; I dislike how far over the hard spines have to be pressed in order to write on the back page, as i had dozens of notebooks break along the spines. They also require a very specific type of pen to properly accept ink- anything other than what RITR specifies will bleed and smear across the pages. But this was for me a minor issue, because my notebooks all took pencil graphite with an extreme liking. These are very functional, very durable products for military personnel and avid outdoorsmen, and I have every intention of continuing to purchase notebooks and binders from this company. I don't rate 5/5, but RITRs are 4.9999999/5's.

A longer table of contents and an index would be ideal. Also, these notebooks should have a place for a pen/pencil since the binding isn't very strong. The paper is durable and easy to read and write on. The universal pattern makes drawing to scale and making notes easy.
