Excellent price; if you enjoy Elton's music you'll enjoy this movie because most of his biggest hits are in the soundtrack...

Packaged wonderfully

Musical numbers are interwoven with narrative which made movie very enjoyable. Story was condensed because how can you tell a life in such a time? Some liberties taken - songs not in order, origin of last name. However, appears to be closer to the actual events I've read than many other movies. Not like some "based on a true story" movies that hardly resemble anything factual.

Let me start by saying this was a super value. The film in blu-ray, DVD, AND digital formats; an evocative SteelBook presentation that looks great in my collection; and, hidden behind the J-card, a 12-page essay that (as far as I can tell) was written by Elton himself just for this movie! The movie itself came out at roughly the same time as the biopic about Freddy Mercury, which I think is unfortunate because the response to Rocketman was sort of shaped by the juxtaposition of the two (or at least it was in my memory). Watching it divorced from that context, I was able to see that this was a true movie musical. The "jukebox musical" format that was popular on Broadway uses songs from an artist's catalog to tell a story (often the story of his life). Yet here the costumes, scenery, and camerawork all combine to provide an experience that would not be possible on stage. Perhaps best of all was that Taron Egerton performed the songs, underscoring the fact that he was playing the role of Elton John, not merely trying to imitate him. Within the movie Egerton seems to make choices as an actor get to the truth of Elton John as shown in the movie, rather than being constrained to simulate the man all the time. As Elton himself says in the accompanying booklet, "The film is a fantasy based on fact... it wasn't all true, but it was the truth." In that way, this becomes a true film and is better for it.

Great movie and great steelbook.. BUT NO ALMOST FAMOUS DOWNLOAD LIKE PICTURED.!! Well worth a watch but was really only buying for the Almost Famous download.

The movie is an above average biopic about Elton John. The steelbook packing has a cool look to it.

I ordered Mad Max: Fury Road 4K Steelbook and this item together. Mad Max was cancelled out of nowhere and i got stuck with Rocketman, which wasn't my main target. Walmart said Mad Max was cancelled due to lack of inventory, but the item was still available curiously. Bad experience really.

1 star because steelbook came WITHOUT free code for digital BONUS movie (Almost Famous). Rocketman movie was good. Photo and item description needs to be updated if the bonus movie is not included.

Great price, and clearly advertised with a digital copy of Almost Famous, main reason I bought the blu ray steel book instead of 4k steel book, but there is no digital copy code or anything that hints at it for Almost Famous.
