Great Motherboard looks great. Excellent features all round. Runs like a dream. Should last me quite a while fitted with i9 and 4090rtx etc. Always had Asus and Rog mobo's never let me down.
This is a solid board with great functionality and awesome thermals. Got a good overclock out of an ortherwise average 12900k. Pretty board to look at and comes with lots of extra bits to. I'm really happy with my purchase. Yes its expensive but the build quality and design features make it well worth the money.
Easy to set up. Easy post. Was able to drop the Wi-Fi driver on after initial windows install and connect to the internet through Wi-Fi to update all the rest of the drivers. Did some auto bios over locking and was able to get my ddr5 memory to 4800mhz stable in auto running 2x16gb 6000mhz gskill trident. I tried some manual adjustments but failed to post, every time though the bios would go back to previous set up. This think is a breeze to tune and play with. The screen on the NVME port is also a nice feature. Super easy and straight forward for a first time builder.
Although I initially had trouble getting the motherboard to recognize my Samsung NVMe PCIe Gen4 M.2 drives upon initial startup and my DDR5 Corsair ram ran at lower than spec speed. Once I was able to update to the latest BIOS (version 1003) all is running stable and at spec speeds using XMP1 now. The ROG ASUS online forum was very helpful during my PC build. Absolutely beautiful motherboard and she's very fast! Will venture into overclocking soon but stability it more important to me right now. I couldn't be more happy. Thank you, ASUS!
So far so good. I have to say being a fan boy is NOT a good thing for a lot of reason. I was called one a about 10 years ago on a forum. If buying Asus products that have never let me down and have always worked I guess I am. 4 star is based on the last 2 years you've not been the same company I started with. Take care of the customer and fix the mistakes that I believe are 100% truthful. I'm glad to be back though.
Excellent motherboard but a little over the top as far as configuration settings. could be trimmed down just a bit.
I am not much of an overclocker. I just like building my own PS's. The only thing I think Intel and AMD needs to realize is they're pushing these chipsets. They get hot and I know most say it's normal, but I'm sorry it's not. Instead of putting more development into there HEDT line they try to get the most out a more inferior chip which then runs hot. Otherwise this board is great
I bought the formula because the Hero wasn't available at the time. The only thing that really bothers me about the Formula/Intel i9-12900k setup is that I can't get it to reach the ideal benchmark of 11440 for CPU-Z for Rog Motherboards. It keeps on showing up as 9099.3 on the CPU multi-thread test. Other than that it is OK. So far I have found that the Intel 12th generation promise of new heights in speed has not materialized. With the lack of DDR5 memory about, it has been more difficult and expensive to go the 12th Generation route and it hasn't made enough difference in speed to warrant it.
If I could get a refund I would go for it, I've been an ASUS fan/customer for years, I spent a lot of money with this purchase, and has the same glitches than a 90's computer, freezing, triggering up temperature sensors (i even replaced the cooling system twice), nothing can fix this thing, nor driver updated, even the BIOS updates.
