Very good quality kit. I've owned many Rough Country lift kits over the years, my first was in 1981 for my Jeep CJ-7. Always been a trusted name and customer service is top notch. When I bought my 1979 F-150 I was glad they offered a 4" lift. You can't match the value of Rough Country products.
Had a bit of suspension work needing done on my Ford F150 but when discussing it with the shop mechanic, he mentioned that much of the work would be replacing parts that commonly get replaced by a lift kit (I had already mentioned my plan for a lift). So, we delayed the work and I went ahead and purchased the Rough Country 4" lift on my own. Found a shop specializing in offroad mods and lift kit installs to do the work. Everything has gone well since the lift install and I could not be happier with the "road feel" I experience when driving now. Even better, I don't have to jack the truck up to do simple maintenance anymore.
Good kit if you are mildly handy. Wish it came with more replacement hardware cuz my truck is an old PoS and I broke the bottom bolt to my rear shock (totally my fault). Had to find replacement that was compatible but wish it came with that cuz even the aftermarket ones are “reinforced” so they clearly are prone to breaking. So outside of my own hiccups, you cant beat this kit.
2005 F150 came apart like a new truck with new hardware would. All old hardware was re used that was intended to re use. New rough country lift was installed as intended and everything went flawlessly and according to instruction from rough country. Took a little longer than expected but I also replaced CV axles, tie rod ends and wheel bearings. The customer I performed the service for is extremely happy and I think the truck looks great.
Had the lift 95% done and lower control arm bolts stripped while installing. Contacted support and had replacements by noon the next day.
Fit and finish were perfect. Few small tips. Replace radius arm bushings. Replace pivot arm bushings. Come to find out the center of the pivot arm bushings have a diameter of ⅝. The bolt that goes through them is ½. I had re assembled the 1st time and checked wheel play with 9&3 motion. There was ⅛ of slop on pivot bolt and pivot bushing. I drilled the new rc pivot arm brackets out to ⅝. Bought a new grade 8 ⅝x4" bolt. Re assembled and good to go. Another note. When re assembling new coil spring to lower retaining nut and washer on steering knuckle. Make sure spring is set back off of knuckle as it had contact upon first assembly. Used pry bar to persuade it further back off of knuckle. TIP: when removing pivot arm bushings. Use ball joint press to press center steel out of rubber bushing. Use sawzall blade to cut 1 slot in the outer steel casing. this relieves the pressure of the pressed in part of the steel bushing by reducing its diameter. Hammer and flat chisel punch it will come right out with ease. Use balljoint press with proper cup and lube to re press new bushing into pivot arm.
Great product fits perfect easy install. Quick shipping
great product and ride quality
Overall the kit was ok. All the front components were good. The rear was a different story. After removing the old leaf springs and the factory 3 inch lift blocks and installing new springs i found out the supplied Ubolts were to long. Went to a local spring shop and had new shorter ones made. After that I noticed the rear of truck was sitting 1 inch lower than the front. Ended up buying 1 inch lift blocks to get it to sit level. Bit of a hassle but it's looking good now.
Lift looks nice and semi-easy to install. One ball joint came with a hole, but Rough Country sent out the replacement right away.
