Rough Country HD Tire Carrier Kit for 2007-2018 Jeep Wrangler JK - 10523

After finding several cracks in our Jeep tailgate inner sheet metal, we needed a sturdier tire carrier to better support the heavy 35" tire after repairs. Have used RC for all our suspension parts so chose this carrier. Very heavy duty and though heavy, increases the strength of the door overall and should prevent further cracking. Couple concerns. Should have a door stop built in as the additional weight will pull the stock tailgate restraint right out of the Jeep as it travels too far. As many have noted, the instructions are not great. We also had issue with the spare tire mounting studs as our locking wheel nuts we had on the OEM carrier would not thread on the RC carrier studs. I think the machining of the threads was poor. All that said I feel this carrier is a good value and very robust.

The RC Heavy duty tire carrier is AWESOME! It's is perfectly functional and has the meaty, rugged look that my Jeep Wrangler appreciates! Super easy install and holds my 105 pound spare tire and rim with ease! Def recommend this for anyone hanging a fatty on their Rig!!

the component is of good quality; it installed quick and easy. the instructions are terrible; the pictures are dark and the text could be written for better; you might as well lay the instruction down and install the best way you can. that is the only reason for the 4 rating. i moved to a 35" tire and the noise from the back was terrible, I replaced the tire carrier and immediately the noise went away, and the door swung better than new. if you have large tires or just a more manly look buy this carrier and install it now.

I got this mount to stop the rattling, and so far it has worked. It would have been nice if it came with all of the bolts and accessories that I needed for mounting it though. There is also a little play in the mount, I'm assuming because the width of the tire requires the mount to be set on its furthest setting which affects the stability of it. But haven't had any actual issues with it yet.

Overall im satisfied with this purchase, it's definitely a heavy duty tire carrier and is really well built. Took my about 2 hours to install. Instructions could be better they're in black and white and kind hard to read. But the reason for four stars instead of five is because no where in the instructions does it tell you the you have to have a wheel with at least five inches of backspacing or a minimum of a 1.25 inch wheel spacer. RC should add a option to purchase a single 1.25 inch wheel spacer with the purchase of this kit. Other than that I'm happy with it

This tire carrier is extremely solid and solved all of my concerns. Buyer be aware, however, that the third brake light mounts inside the wheel, precluding the option of a tire cover, and requires the factory light assembly to be cut apart for use. If that isn't a concern for you, consider this five stars.
