If this product was anymore expensive I would just use a paper bag. Plain and simple though this product works great lights my smoker my grill and wood stove and it works as it should absolutely fantastic and worth buying

I found these in my local Walmart two summers ago, and think they are sensational. They have been hard to find, though, with only one store in my entire area showing that they have them in stock right now...and they have only THREE of them. Guess I'll be headed out to get them pronto.

Price is good, product started well with magnesium and striker, in fact, if you use a fire-starter of any kind including matches or a lighter, you'll need to have everything ready to go. So, have your tinder, small shavings, and source-wood like twigs, small branches about the size of pencils, starter pieces, and your longer burning fuel all ready because these "Royal Oak Tumbleweed Firestarters" are going to go up fast and what I mean is this tinder is like it's been soaked in petroleum. I use a magnesium striker to start all of my fires while in the backcountry or just practicing at my firepit. I like them and found one thing to remember, they burn fast, maybe too fast. As I said, if you are using them in the wild, have everything ready to burn. If you are just starting a stove in your cabin just be quick and ready along with your accelerator wood. All in all, I rated them high in my testing and would buy them again. Great product for hunters or backpackers to carry, very light, and easy to store in a double zip lock baggie...

I've been buying these for years for my wood stove and am very disappointed. On my seasonal purchase with these Tumbleweeds that were delivered to me I have noticed something. These don't have the clear round stickers on the box ends like they used to so they are now unsealed, and the pieces are rattling around loose in the box. I suspected that this was a QC skip during packaging and a few pieces fell out. There are 16 pieces in the box they're just much skinnier now and don't burn as long. I walked into my local Wal-Mart to see if I got a bad batch. Nope they were all like this on the shelf.

Horrible SMELL. Very waxy and most likely their reason is to burn better. However, I had used tumbleweeds last year (no longer available) that were way larger, NO ADDITIVES and worked so well. I hate chemicals and don't trust anything 'natural' anymore that doesn't define what that really means. These stink. They are small I have to unwind them and use a little at a time in my wood stove. I personally rely heavily on 'fatwood' now. Sick of the smell
