I was on the fence initially -- asking myself do I really want to paint my floors? I decided to give it a chance knowing that if I hated it I would tear the tile out. Long story short, it came out GREAT! I found the process to be very easy. Getting the tile clean is of upmost importance. I used the solution provided in the kit which worked great - many reviews suggest Krud Kutter as well. I only used the solutions that came with the kit. I used the bright white for the base and floor color. First coat is a bit daunting as it appears streaky and doesn't provide full coverage. The second coat evens out provides full coverage. Be sure to get ample paint on the grout. I used a 4" foam roller to even out the paint - that did the trick for me. I used a paintbrush to get the paint in the grout and then rolled small sections of tile (probably about four 6" tiles at a time) After the base coat was dry, I applied a stencil which took me several days, which I later found out was not ideal. I will come back to that. For the stencil I used the same paint - color of Cake Batter. When stenciling, it is important to apply the paint very lightly - use less paint than you think you need. You don't want the paint to bleed. I purchased 4 stencils from Etsy - you will need multiple stencils. I was not able to paint two neighboring tiles the same day as I didn't want to smudge the paint. The stenciling took 2-3 nights, just about 30 minutes per night but I later found out that the top coat needs to be applied within 48 hours so keep that in mind. This product is great for transforming an outdated space. The tile needs to be in good shape. A coat of paint is not going to fix a floor that needs repair - but if it needs a cosmetic re-do this is the product. Critiques: I have spoken to Rust-Oleum customer service 2x now and they were super helpful. I advised them that they need swatches of the paint - even for purchase. I would have paid for a swatch book - instead I had to buy a quart of paint for $25/30 just to see the color - which is why I used the cake batter. I am considering redoing the floor with different colors but I have not decided yet. If I do, I will use the same product line! If you are looking for paint swatches try to look online on a MAC or a your phone I think you get the best color representation there. Or call them, they will help you determine the best color. I highly recommend this product. Look online for videos, there are plenty of people out there who have made videos and have before and after photos. Here are mine.
I was looking for something easy to do on my bathroom floor since I painted the walls and needed a change, was debating for months and couldn't be happier with the results, I did two coats and use the coat, as time passed I feel more secure to clean it, I tinted it to match my decor and followed directions, dry fast. highly recommended for any DIY and I will do it on a rental property I have.
I used this to paint my 70s tiled avocado green bathroom. I painted the walls and shower surround white and the floor black with this stuff. The results were beautiful!! Very little prep work involved. I used two coats of each color to cover the green. The paint was easy to apply and dried quickly. I highly recommend this paint
The shipping source, Resaled.com, was very helpful in explaining the product to me. I'm happy with how my bathroom tiles turned out!
very easy to apply. love the way it goes on so smoothly.
Doesn't cover a big enough area for the money
