Great price! Bought the pepper gel for grandkids at college and one that I keep in my car door! Love the bright pink ! I have several items from this company. Will probably buy more for the other girls in her door! Any extra safety for girls on campus is great now days. I wish this one came with the practice one but that can only be bought on the company website.
Sabre Red Pepper Gel is a great self protection tool. The flip top gives you instant protection as you just grip the canister and slide your thumb under the flip top, aim and press. The colored gel doesn't disperse spray into the wind that can fly back onto you. This gel is safer than pepper spray. Sabre has helpful youtube videos to familiarize yourself on using pepper gel. This canister has 25 bursts and shoots 12 feet. I feel much more comfortable carrying this on me than a gun even though I have a gun permit.
This is a GREAT little safety tool! And Sabre is supposed to be one of the best brands out there. The price is really good, too. I got the hot pink color to make it easy to see in my purse. It has a keyring attached, however, I've already got way too many bobbles attached to my keys. Sabre offers a great free online "How To" video for this little pepper gel sprayer that makes it so easy to understand how to use. The sprayer itself is so simple to use, which is extremely important in an emergency situation. All you have to do is depress the button on the top with your thumb to activate the gel spray. From what I read, I believe that pepper gel is better than regular pepper spray as it reaches farther, has less back spray & as such is less likely to spray YOURSELF in the face, is thicker so your attacker will have a harder time removing it & this one actually contains a UV Marking Dye. It gives you 25 sprays of pepper gel, which is great. All in all, I feel MUCH safer carrying this with me.
The pepper gel spray comes sealed in plastic with a little pamphlet, giving info on how to use the spray for effectiveness when needing to protect yourself, in written and also in video form(provides link for demonstration) I found the information useful and nice they added it. Mace is made of a lightweight but thick plastic, looks sturdy and that it will hold up well. Has thumb flip so you won't accidentally spray it. Has key ring attached so you can add it on to your keys, or attach it wherever you could access it fast if needed. I have small hands and it fits nice in my hand, not too big. I measured it, it is just shy of 4 inches long and is 3 1/2 inches round in thickness. Mace has a label which states expiration date of 4 years. Product is made in U.S.A. I am a Walmart Spark Reviewer so received this product free to try, but that had no bearing on me sharing my honest opinion on the product.
I have carried Sabre Pepper Gel for some time now. It is a safer alternative for Self Defense. I even bought an extra can so I could try it out and get a feel for spraying it. The instructions come with a link to a video and I encourage you to watch the video. It tends to shoot high so I would start by pointing about 18 inches lower and adjust as needed. It really sprays a good distance. I started at 15 feet and worked back to about to about 24 feet. I needed to raise the pointing a bit at 24 but it got there. For some reason I got a couple of tiny dots of the spray on my arm. Possibly due to a gust of wind and those tiny spots burned like crazy. I cannot imagine getting a full face of this stuff. It is NOT 100% non-lethal. Watch the training Video.
Trying to review pepper spray is a little like reviewing an insurance policy. If you don’t have an issue (an attacker in the case of the spray or a claim in the case of insurance), you can never truly speak to the effectiveness of the product based on real world experience. Nevertheless, I can comment on its construction, and the obvious advantages of a gel over a spray. I have carried pepper spray in the past, as a precaution against someone I worked with who was harassing me. The police advised me to either learn to use a handgun or carry pepper spray. This product is pepper gel – even better – and it also contains a UV marking dye. The thick gel is superior to the spray because it sprays 20% farther and is less affected by wind, virtually eliminating any chance of accidentally blowing back in your face, and improving your chances of targeting your assailant. I especially like the pink color because I don’t want to carry it on my keyring – too many opportunities to accidentally depress it – but in my purse, I can easily find it against a dark lining. Of course, if I sensed immediate danger, it would be in my hand. The thicker gel sticks to the attacker causing involuntary eye closure, difficulty breathing, facial burning, panic and anxiety – giving you time to run away and call for help. This product is made in the USA. It comes with a detailed instruction sheet for proper deployment, and a link to a training video. The flip-top springs back so the spray mechanism is no longer exposed when not in use. Note that pepper sprays and gels have expiration dates, which are clearly displayed on the permanent label, so be sure to check from time to time and replace expired product. Mine has an expiration date of 2024. All in all, an excellent product from a leading manufacturer that every woman should be carrying with her at all times.
This product helps me feel safe and protected when going outside especially at night. Also, I don't have to worry about blow backs.
In these troubled times even a little self defense is better than nothing. Bright color makes it easy for the user and a warning to the perpetrator. Shoots in premeasured bursts so you have more opportunities to hit sensitive areas. UV marking dye helps find the bad guy even after the burning of the eyes has stopped.
I had never heard of a gel pepper spray before and I was not sure what the appeal would be for something like that. Turns out it is really a pretty good way of transporting your pepper to its intended target. Since there are supposedly 25 shots in one of these I decided to have my wife try it out away from everyone so she would know what to expect if she ever needed it for real. The device uses a flip up safety to prevent an unintended shot. The safety works well and is hardly noticeable when you don't need it. There is also a molded grip to assist in aiming by feel as well as sight. The depth of the finger grips could be a little deeper to aid in a more natural feel. The day she shot the gel there was a fairly strong breeze and I intentionally picked a target for her that was cross ways to the wind to see if the gel really had a targeting advantage over an aerosol pepper spray. The target I picked out was about 8 feet away and although the wind had a slight affect, it was pretty negligible. The gel carried true to within a few inches of where she was aiming. I can imagine that an aerosol spray would have been carried sideways off of the target considering the distance and the wind. The test did make me question one aspect that I hadn't really thought about though: Since the gel comes out in a straight, accurate stream and the aerosol comes out in a cloud, which product would be more effective? I mean, if I was getting this stuff used on me could I just block the gel with my hand since it is a slender stream? I guess I'll never know since I'm not going to be the guy who gets this stuff intentionally sprayed at him, but blocking the gel seems plausible and is something to consider. After testing this, I feel more comfortable that my wife carries the gel spray. I think there is less chance of wind blowing back the gel versus the aerosol pepper spray. She prefers the less lethal types of defense products so she's pretty happy with it also. And this one was pink.
I haven't had to use this on anyone, thankfully, however I did test it and the gel stays put where you spray it and doesn't spread all over. The flip top is easy to use with just your thumb and it is lightweight enough to actually go on your key ring. The finger grip indentations make it easy to know if you have the nozzle facing in the right direction, especially if you are in a panic situation. Overall, I think it is a good product.
