Our cat was chased by a coyote and the collar got snagged on a fence during the chase, the safe collar easily snapped open allowing my cat to continue running. Eventually the coyote caught up with my cat in the front yard, and my cat fought off the coyote. The cat is fine. I have it all on video from my security cameras. I'm not sure what would have happened if he hadn't had the breakaway collar. Great collar!!!

I have used these for years with my foster kittens. They have worked great, and even last a while with kittens chewing on them (They love to play with each other's collars). They have come off if the kittens tug hard enough, so I can imagine a grown cat will easily get them off if they get stuck somewhere.

I love this! I just have a question. What happens if a cat were to get hung? Like hung up somewhere on a tree branch or hung up on a fence? My cat is almost 2 years old and she is an in door and outdoor cat and I?m always scared to let her wear it outside Incase she gets hung. Likely chances are she won?t get hung but of course I worry. Would someone let me know?

Hi.I'm one year I bought 5 breakaway collar. My cat lost all of them. Also had to replace all the I'd and vaccination tags every time. I finally found a neat way that this does not happen anymore. I inserted a thin elastic loop. Giving the cat allowed space to pull himself from being stuck in branches. It now unclips but the collar stay out on him. You should adopt this. Write to me and I will send you a picture. Now no more lost collar and my cat is safe wandering in the neighborhood. Also. Clicker trained to come back. ?

The only thing these collars have going for them is the patterns. This is an awful collar. I bought it because of it's easy snap promise. It did NOT uphold to that. My cat got it stuck between his teeth, in his mouth and it would NOT snap off, no matter how hard we tried. We had to cut it off in the end. It scratched the inside of his mouth causing him to bleed. This caused so many issues for being promised to solve them. I would rate this zero stars if I could.

This literally almost killed my cat. The collar wasn’t loose, yet somehow he managed to get it stuck to his bottom jaw. The breakaway did not break away, i had to rush him into the kitchen and cut it with scissors. It is an honest to god miracle he didn’t break his jaw or severely injure himself. An absolute safety hazard. Would NOT buy again.

I am only giving one star because I have to in order to submit a review. This is not the first Coastal collar to fail at easily, or otherwise, breaking away but it is the first one to nearly choke my cat to death. He got it caught on something in the house that pulled the top portion of the adjustable length through the bucket and tightened the collar around his neck. Not only did the collar not break loose we couldn’t get it off of him. No matter how hard we tried. We ended up cutting it off of him. I feel lucky that he was inside with us because had he been outdoors we may not have found him in time. The first collar we had for him also was extremely difficult to pull open. I thought it was just dirty as he was an outside cat at the time but that clearly is not the case. He is inside only and the collar is only two months old. I love the patterns and that they are light weight but I will not purchase from this company until they resolve this life threatening issue.
