Safety 1st Adhesive Cabinet and Drawer Latches, 8 pack. These are a must have when it comes to baby proofing your home. As we all know, once babies get to that crawling stage they are curious to explore everything around them and you want to make sure that everything is safe and secure!!!! Now, with these latches, you can either use the 3M adhesive or use screws, I preferred to use the adhesive because if I dont have to have screw holes in my wood then thats even better, but also with that being said, if I had to use the screws to make sure my grand babies are safe then absolutely 100% I would use them, their safety comes first, not the screw holes!!!!!!! I have also used these before with my kids and my daughter has been using these for hers, so we know that they hold up very well with the adhesive. Super, super easy installation, the instructions included are very easy to under stand and they give step by step pictures as well (PERFECT). The latches have a red locked side and a green unlocked side, they are not hard to press down at all, just give a little downward push and its open. You can even leave the latch facing down when you don't need to have certain drawers/cabinets secured, which makes it nice and convenient. Before installation you will definitely want to make sure that the area is clean and dry, with just about any adhesive you want to use a little bit of rubbing alcohol to clean the area first and let it dry completely before installation. I also wanted to add when you need to remove them, sometimes they can be a pain to get the adhesive off (but that shows you how well they work), just use a little bit of dental floss if you need to get down on one side, usually its fairly easy but sometimes you get stubborn ones. I definitely recommend these to everyone, like I said, I've used these before and they've never let me down. Safety 1st is a well known company, their products are very durable, its not that cheap plastic, and those of you using these for first time, the instructions are awesome, so no worries there. Thank you Safety 1st for your amazing products!!
Don't make the mistake I did and think you can just pop these suckers on any way you'd like. They're made cleverly to align perfectly so long as you follow installation instructions—simple to read, I just didn't take the time with my first one! After that it was a breeze. So far my one year old hasn't been able to yank any of the cabinets open with these locks, and the adhesive holds well(I know because I tried to remove the first one I applied incorrectly…not happening without ruining the whole lock so I let it be).
I got this Safety 1st Adhesive Cabinet Latch for Childproofing (8-Pack) for securing drawers in my home, as I have a 4-year-old and 2-year-old. There are two installation methods: using the adhesive sticky pads or using the included screws. The included instructions are great and illustrate each step so it's easy to follow. In the past, the adhesives for childproofing seemed to fail for me, so I stick with using the screws now. These are super useful for making sure your kids don't get into unsafe items in your house (cleaning supplies, sharp knives, etc). They also ensure that your kid doesn't try to use cabinet drawers as steps (as kids love to climb dressers).
I was pleasantly surprised by these latches. They are easy to install with double sided adhesive strips and also come with screws to reinforce them. The best part about these is that can be disabled for when you're having adult time. The only negative I can see is that they are a little hard to turn. With that aside, I like them and even added more of these to my baby registry!
Set of 8 child proof latches with strong 3M adhesive to attach the latch mechanisms. Also includes screws which I didn't use cause the adhesive seems to be strong enough. Easy to install followed the included instructions. I did have trouble turning the latch after initial installation. But I used some pliers and was able to turn it easily. At first it is a little difficult to find where to push to get the latch released but after playing with it I was able to it figure out.
These gadgets to childproof cabinets and drawers are effective, although we've had two of them break within 6 months. Installation is made easier with the adhesive strips to place the locks in position however the red film that peals of the adhesive is at times extremely difficult to remove.
With our baby starting to move around a lot more, we want to make sure that she doesn't get into any cabinets that are safe, especially under our sink where we have cleaners with different chemicals. These cabinet latches are a way to prevent her from getting into the space without making our cabinets look ugly with big plastic hooks.
I have a 15 months old toddler and she's on that phase that opens every door and pulls everything out so I'm locking my kitchen cabinets. I had those locks with a magnet key and even though it was good, the key was annoying and not very practical. I got these to test and they work great, they leave some room so the door moves. What I didn't like was the fact that to open it you have to press the lock which is hard enough for a female hand. I have small hands and it can be hard to open it. To my husband is basically impossible. The idea is great but it may need a little more room to open it.
First of I LOVE the idea of these. I love the new added feature to unlock and lock the latch. I wish that was around when I first started having kids. I really like that it has the option to be stuck on with the 3m tape, or screwed on. The only draw back for me is they won't work with my cabinets. I don't have special cabinets or anything, I actually have a more common style. But it just won't work. I really wish they did however because I do love the concept. I feel it's because the base is so chunky, so my cabinet doors cannot shut completely with them on. Overall I do recommend, but make sure they work for your cabinet.
Terrible locking mechanism! I had this for a week and now I cannot get the lock open at all! Even my husband cannot open it! Useless and I threw the box away so I can't return. Awful product
