Safety 1st Easy Install Auto-Close Gate

We got this for the bottom of our stairs to keep our 1 year old from climbing up them. We wanted something that would be easy enough for our 5 year old twins to open. We went through 3 other gates before finding this one -it's super easy to open and it closes by itself! Love it. It was also super easy to install.

It was relatively easy to install and once up is awesome! I can swing the gate either direction for going through. It keeps the dogs where I want them (or dont). Its quiet. Looks great.

Gate lock hardware has a design flaw. The safety button catches and sticks. I had to take the lock piece apart and sand a better angle on the piece that is catching. Once I did this the lock works perfectly. Other than this the gate works great and is sturdy.

Would give 5 stars, but the latch is not even with where it is supposed to fit. Doesn't lock because of this. Have to lift the door up so it fits into locked position. Tried adjusting the fit of the gate on the doorway, but seek to either be a manufacturing flaw, or was damaged in shipping.

Buttons were getting stuck making it super hard to open. If the buttons didn't get jammed this product would be great. But I could barely press them in

I have two of these and when it's working it's great, but it's easy for it to all fall apart because of the poor way this gate is designed. My one year old has already torn the door right out of its frame and she doesn't even lift. Specifically the top hinge can just flop out and doesn't sink in like you expect it to (you can see this even in promo photos here). That alone is one thing but the instructions included with the gate show a different model with a DIFFERENT hinge system! How are you supposed to trust a gate that doesn't even come with the right instructions? You can see this in real time right now as the pdf of the instructions is linked on this store page. And forget the lock being level, that's not happening. One side just ends up slightly higher than the other no matter due to the odd hinge. The lock mechanism still works fine but doesn't inspire confidence. The promo pictures here can't even get those to be level either. Pieces pull apart over time/useage. Everything can be put back and refastened but you need to keep a close eye on it or it will pop out and an inopportune moment. Overall this gate is just a headache, which is the last thing you need with a new baby.

Easy to install but the locks are very poorly made. The mechanism on both gates were stuck without hours of installing them.

The gate worked great for the first day but the locking mechanism is super sticky and now I literally cannot open the gate. Do not waste your money on this.

Latch didn't work, it would get stuck and was extremely hard to open if we even could. Have this same gate but purchased a few years ago and loved it, latch still works smoothly after years of use.

The latch ends up getting stuck and not working. I returned the first one due to this and now this is one is doing. Will not order again
