I love shrimp and have been eating more because it is a good source of protein. This package of Cooked Salad Shrimp can be eaten alone or added to a salad or recipes. They are small and about the size of a dime. They are peeled and the tail is removed. Each serving is 3 ounces which is about 75 shrimp and is 100 calories. There is 19 grams of protein in each serving which makes it a great source for my diet plan. I love them. They are stored in the freezer and can be thawed by running cold water on them for 5-7 minutes. I like them and keep a bag in the freezer for meals or a quick snack.
I'm sitting down right now to eat a small bowl of these that I purchased, but only after spending about half hour "de-veining" them. It is not a vein that you are removing across their back. it is their large intestine full of poop. You'll see the black streaks across about half of them and may think, "that looks a little dirty, but it's not too much." Then you taste one and realize it is still in proportion to its size. You wouldn't eat a large shrimp with a large tube of poop. Neither should you eat these. If you are willing to spend about 1 hour, you can probably clean all of these, by which time you will wish you had gone to another store and bought a clean bag for a dollar or two more. My assumption is that the shrimp processors pull out the shrimp that didn't get cleaned by the machines and put them into a pile to be sold in this bag. Never again!!
Not only were they not fully deveined. There were still shells on them. Almost every other one had shells that myself and kids could get sick from.
Disgusting. Most of the shrimp are not properly cleaned and still have the poop veins on them. This makes them inedible. The shrimp I bought at Ralphs were fantastic. The Walmart product should not be allowed to be sold!!!
