Excellent TV with great features!

HappyKamper December 21, 2018

I purchased this TV 6 months ago, and could not be more pleased with it's performance. After reading the set-up guide, I found the menu to be very user friendly. Picture colours, clarity & resolution, and sound quality are first rate, especially when viewing in Full HD or 4K, and accessing streaming services such as Netflix is very easy. I preview 4K imagery for my drone photography business on this big screen and you can almost count the blades of grass from 30 metres up (that's about 110 feet!). Watching movies is just like being in my own hi tech and comfortable cinema, with the surround sound set to my preferences. Highly recommended.

good 4K picture, some functional limitations

GregC July 2, 2019

This TV has a great quality 4K picture for the price, and reasonable built in sound. Slim and good looking unit, suitable for a modest size living room. The performance of the EPG is poor, as it frequently pauses for a several seconds while scrolling up and down through the channels, and it fails to populate all the upcoming programs until you tune into a channel in each broadcaster network. Its built in media player does not support playback of video files in which the audio is encoded in the commonly used DTS format, so anyone with a library of movie files with DTS audio will need to plug in a separate media player or computer. The built in Smart TV apps are pretty comprehensive and good quality. Overall pretty happy with this puchase.

Very Good

Tee Vee December 19, 2018

We did need to adjust the background darkness. First TV where we needed to do that. But subsequently we are very pleased with it. The speed that it starts up is great too. Our only complaint now is with the remote control. The buttons on the bottom line which includes "Play" and "Pause" are a little too small, and difficult to locate in a hurry, especially when light is dimmed. Overall, a good TV at a great price.

Remotely good.

Great TV, tedious remote control. Samsung needs to put out YouTube video of how to use the minimalist remote. Things like how do you get from channel 93 to 7 quickly? How do you rock back and forth between the two channels? How to stop the volume from surging unexpectedly ?

Mediocre

piefti October 5, 2018

I bought this tv hoping that the price difference with cheaper competitors was worth it, but probably it wasn't. The picture has nice high resolution, but the colors are unnatural. No matter how much you play with the advanced settings, the outdoor colors and contrasts are way off. Two other big negatives are: 1) it does not read Divx. 2) It cannot record programs on USB (I though it did when I bought it!). Also, it doesn't have a standard jack port for the audio, only optical digital. Overall disappointing.

Great basic TV for the price BUT ....

sinners007 February 25, 2019

I bought the 55NU7100 in September 2018. It's a great TV for the price, especially for gaming. The low input lag makes gaming a treat on this TV. Once the picture is calibrated, it looks decent for a 55" TV under $1k, but don't expect it to match the more expensive NU8 or QF series. The menu system is smooth & intuitive. Apps are plentiful. The remote is a tad nasty but overall, a good entry TV ... BUT ... The December 2018 firmware update (v1202) has caused a major issue for my TV (and several others according to various forums). Basically, if using HDMI 1-2-3, when I power on the TV, I get a black screen (no smart hub/no picture). The TV is on, I can hear sounds when I press remote buttons, but the screen is not showing a picture. It's likely an issue with the HDMI handshake failing, brought upon by buggy firmware. The solution to temporarily fix this issue is to turn the TV back off & on OR to power on the TV by pressing a channel button (instead of power button) which launches into the DTV that doesn't exhibit the blank screen issue of the HDMI 1-2-3. Samsung customer support have tried trouble shooting the issue (factory reset, different HDMI cables, reinstalling firmware) but have been unable to assist. Samsung "broke" the TV with the firmware update - they won't let me go back to the previous firmware that worked and cannot guarantee there will be new firmware (or if that will fix it). Disappointing.

Money wasted Our expansive television and vacuum stopped working, and no one responded to fix or replace it. What a shame, company.

LED

Anonymous July 4, 2019

Was given this tv as a Christmas gift from my partner. Everything was going perfect until Monday 1st July when the LED stopped working from the middle of the screen to the entire right hand side of the screen. Super disappointed. It is only being replaced, who is to say it won't happen again?

Good picture quality everything else is rubbish

Samsung43inch October 7, 2018

Display is high quality but don't fall for "SMART" features. They are no different than what is found on cheap TVs. Samsung's own apps don't work with this TV. I have tried both Smart View and Smart Things from Mobile but no way to make them work. No way to remote control it other than the absurd remote control that they ship with it. No WiFi connectivity even with a Samsung mobile phone. I preferred this one over a Sony that was $200 cheaper but turned out to be waste of money.

Worse than buying a flat pack from Bunnings.

GregB October 19, 2019

I brought this new TV 2 days ago. Spacers included for wall mount but no screws. What sort of company does this these days. Finally got assembled on WiFi, spent ..... knows how much time connecting to WiFi ...... Picture Quality is Questionable !! Will never pay this much again for what supposed to be quality. NOT HAPPY !
