Fantastic for Varied Use

S1RBRAD3TH June 23, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I feel like there's a problem with the current options we as consumers have when it comes to buying TVs. Ideally we'd want the high per pixel contrast of OLED panels, but with the brightness and longevity of LED TVs. Right now, we have to choose between that, but steps are being made in the right direction to get the best of both worlds and this is where Samsung's Neo QLED line of TVs come in. While Micro-LED displays are still way too expensive for your average consumer, Mini-LED TVs, such as my QN85A, act as a great intermediate for the time being and this really shows in the picture quality. Personally, I use this TV for a range of different media consumption like gaming on consoles, watching movies and even for possibly the most difficult use case, as a 4K 120hz primary computer monitor. I've had no issues so far in calibrating the TV for all of this and it honestly looks stunning; I've enjoyed the vibrate scenes of Cyberpunk 2077, the inky blacks of 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the clarity and uniformity it brings to my programs as a 3D artist. As a bonus, I suspect this TV will last longer than traditional LED TVs as there are more backlights and they aren't being turned on as frequently due to its smaller local dimming zones. This tackles a problem where backlights slowly turn turn blue with excessive use, keeping your TV more vibrant for longer. Overall, this is the best TV I've had and I think anyone could be satisfied with it. I hope that we can see further shrinking of backlights toward Micro-LED TVs and if so, I'd be very excited to see what Samsung has to show going forward.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The picture quality is amazing, colours are so bright. This tv makes you feel like you are part of the scene, My kids keep telling me “it's like we are in the movie” It is also super thin, looks great on the stand and even better on the wall.

Excellent

LeafTea February 28, 2022

I've had this set for 2 weeks now and love it. It's does everything I wanted it to. It's fantastically bright. I personally find the contrast fine. A lot of reviews focus on stats and benchmarking, but for me I'm more interested in the useability. I think Samsung could work on their menus more. The remote and the UI aren't really sympathetic to each other. One is always clicking to the far left side to get to settings and sources, it's not really optimal. But if u have a regular old Samsung remote then u can get around this with direct access to most features. Smart Things is useful too, so you can set up one tap shortcuts. HDR looks great, and gaming on this screen is a joy. I find some games work well with Game Mode, others better off without it. I love Ambient Mode, and there's a nice Music Visualiser that starts up when you Bluetooth your phones music to the TV - I didn't read about that in any other review but is quite cool and stylish. You can switch to ambient mode visuals also if u want. All in all as a TV I love it, I just think the menu needs work and Samsung should move away from putting Ads in the main UI - as I feel this is half the reason the menu screen is jeopardised. Some customisation would be great there. Outside of that I'm very happy, great picture quality, great physical design, lots of great features.

Smart Slick Shiny Toy

TeaCat July 13, 2021

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just purchased this beauty 1 week ago, the quantum matrix technology is absolutely eye opening. Upgrading from Samsung UA48J6200AW to this one the sound tracking technology has improved and I have noticed that the Anti Glare tech and wide viewing angle has topped it all. No matter where you are viewing there is no reflection of your sofa anymore! I also love NeoSlim design, super thin, and designed to blend in seamlessly. I also am very impressed with ambient mode and the remote control for all. All these features are absolutely top notch, reasons I am staying with Samsung. Welldone Samsung! Very pleased to have this.

Good tv for good price

Malq June 11, 2022

It's a very good tv: quality of pucture is superb, plenty of options for everyone: for tv lovers, for gamers etc. Few things that are not so great: sound ( I got samsung sound bar with Q Symphony) but tv speakers are not making a big difference. There should be an option to be able to uninstall some apps ( but you cant) and customisation of menu would be very handy. Nice remote control. Overall: great tv!

Absolutely pathetic

sNaj March 26, 2023

Tizen is slow, i mean it takes multiple seconds to do something, and it is full of ads. Multi view only works with Youtube and no other apps are supported. It is basically useless, you cant use netflix or disney or anything else. If you want to open Twitch the system wants you to connect a controller first, because it is listed as a video game streaming app. Pretty dumb. Back to the ads. At least 33% of your home screen is ads. If you want to go somewhere, Samsung forces you to go over the ad, which than can play as a video with sound. Everything is slow and anti-user. Before you can control anything, you always need to wait for the ads to be loaded. Older Samsung TVs are way faster and better to use. New Tizen is just to make them more money out of users.

Picture in dark scene shocking

flyhalf47 October 18, 2022

Had this tv for a couple of months no, and to say I'm disappointed and wish that I had never wasted my money on it is an understatment. the picture quality on slightly dark scenes is shockingly bad, to the extent that they go really grain and washed out at the same time. my 12 year old tv in the conservatory has a better picture than this at times. I have tried every setting to try and eliminate this issue but to know avail. I would not recommend anyone buying this tv. yes the bright scenes are brilliant but the slightest dark scene is woful to watch.

Cannot be repaired due to lack of parts

SteveR12 May 9, 2023

Do NOT buy this model. We bought this TV last year. An unfortunate accident has caused damage to the screen. Samsung repair provider Group FX absolutely hopeless. Cannot be bothered to come and repair and have told us there are no longer any available parts manufactured to enable any repair to the screen.
