I bought this to upgrade my other Samsung M.2 SSD to give myself a bit of extra storage space and room. Wow, this the 970 EVO is worth every penny! Impressed at the 5 year warranty too. I've recommended this to all my friends and will be buying the new models in the coming years.
Wanted to go ahead and upgrade my new pc with an ssd before i got to much on the computer. This was easy to install, and no problems running a clean install on it. Computer was back up and running in no time. Very happy with this purchase and the price it was at
The 970 Evo seriously sped up everyday processes from the standard SSD that came with the desktop. Absolutely no more lag and even Google maps has faster load times with less CPU load. Basically made all components in the desktop more responsive with less bottlenecking using the same RAM, GPU and CPU.
Very pleased with this purchase. The NVMe SSD was delivered quickly and as described. Worth noting is the packaging does NOT include a mounting screw for the SSD. My motherboard came with a few extra so it wasn't an issue. Walmart.com had this item for a great price and it arrived within 2 days of placing the order.
I had never used an M2 SSD. I had always considered it a luxury but after seeing the price and specs i couldn't pass up the offer. To say it is fast is a lie. This thing is beyond fast. replacing my 7200rpm HDD with this was like going from VHS to Bluray. Everything feels instant, copying is immediate, and you forget the computer is on because there is no noise. The biggest issue is it will spoil you. After using this and then using regular HDD's at work feels so slow now. You feel like you might as well be using Windows 95. Heck even using SDD hard drives feels laggy. Highly recommend the product, just remember it will make everything else feel much slower.
This M.2 came in quickly and was easy to set up. I also haven't had any issues with it so far, my PC starts up quickly and it loads up various programs extremely fast.
Like the other reviews, I'll verify this module is crazy fast. On install the bios detected it, windows 10 did not have the appropriate temporary drivers though, and kept blue-screening, even in safe mode, initially. After some persistence, Windows conceded and allowed me to log in with an unknown device. After downloading the drivers from samsung and rebooting, all was well. The samsung cloning tool worked great, though it did not clone the 2nd hidden recovery partition in "automatic" mode.
Bought this for my son's PC - however as soon as he had re-installed Steam and tried play Rust from the new drive he found the performance of the graphics severly detrimental. GPU constantly around 100% - I read that nvme shares lanes with the gpu but not sure if this is the issue. Certainly something to consider for anyone looking to purchase!
Hi, I bought the 970 EVO 512 GB to substitute my Sandisk 120 GB SSD PCIe that originally came with my ASUS ROG GL503 VM. As it has only one PCIe slot I have tried to clone the original Sandisk SSD and literally spent 2 days trying different ways. The main issue seemed to be the Type M slot that the 970 EVO uses which is fairly new and an external USB enclosure was not readily available. I managed to do a partially installation but many shortcuts seemed to be missing and Office was acting up. Eventually I found a Type M enclosure that actually said it was compatible with the 970 EVO so I ordered it, received it in the UK after a couple of weeks and it seems to be working fine... as a very expensive USB pen drive. The problem now is that the USB enclosure (branded "Rongdeson") seems to "fake" the physical sector to be 4Kbp physical sector, which seems to be wrong but I haven't managed to find the spec for this yet. The Sandisk appears to be 512 bp physical sector so no cloning app has allowed the cloning. I will persist but meanwhile can't give any stars or recommend the product yet! I would appreciate any help on this if possible. Best Marcelo
3 Dell PC's with this Samsung 970 EVO NVMe ® M.2 SSD 1TB have went faulty. We have more PC's with this same M.2 SSD. This is a Trend which means an investigation. We suspect by others reviews there is a Samsung Design flaw with this particular model.
