I bought this TV 2 weeks ago from HN. I was originally looking to buy a popular OLED TV from a competing brand but the brighter screen and the lively colours of the Samsung display model made me change my mind. Wife may have helped with this decision because our Samsung The Frame 2019 model in our bedroom is excellent and super easy for her to use. (Thanks to the clean and easy Tizen OS for TV) So after 2 weeks of use, I can easily say that I thank my lucky stars for buying the Samsung QLED instead of the dimmer OLED. I have no affiliation with Samsung whatsoever but I am so happy with this TV. Excellent colours, super sharp picture, perfect up-scaling from FTA channels, super easy to setup and use, and very bright for our - full of windows - living room. Also, one thing that I love is the One Connect box. Oh my goodness, first time in my life i have a clean TV cabinet top without 100's of cables tangled all over the place. Only one tiny cable from the tv to the one box and all the cables of the peripheral devices can be hidden inside the cabinet because they connect to the one box instead of the back of the tv. This is an awesome feature. The icing on the cake (which really left me stunned) was how instantly it connected with my old soundbar. My soundbar is an older model. It connects via HDMI arc but an older version of it. My previous TV (running android for tv) was such a pain to connect to the soundbar. Furthermore, the OLED TV I wanted to purchase had known compatibility issues with arc soundbars and the net is full of posts of people seeking help how to get their soundbar to work with this brand. I was really terrified of the moment that would have to also go through this painful (and often endless) process. So long story short, I took the Sammy home, got it going and connected the HDMI cable to the soundbar and the TV. Then, within 2 seconds and without me having to do ANYTHING, the TV recognised the soundbar and the audio started coming from the soundbar rather from the TV. What???? What happened to the painful process described by the owners of the OLED TV I was planning to buy? My new Samsung tv made it so easy, I literally didn't have to press one button and it was all up and running on it's own. What kind of sorcery is this? Overall 5+ stars for the best TV i ever owned and 5+ stars to myself and the wife for helping me change my mind at the last minute and getting this awesome tv instead.
We had a large wall that was begging for a 75 inch and decided on the Samsung Q80. We have found the the colours to be true and vibrant, the images crisp and clear and the blacks rich and dark. The clarity when watching movies is outstanding. Watching movies has never been better. The anti reflection handling is one of the outstanding features with virtually no reflection or glare on the screen, even in our bright room with floor to ceiling windows. We found the Q80 excellent for watching sports such as the Australian Open with excellent motion handling resulting in minimal blur. The Samsung Q80 remote is a black plastic design, unlike our previous Q90 which was a more upscale chrome metal design. Nevertheless, it is easy to use with a minimal button design and three fast access buttons for Netflix, Prime and the Internet as well as a built in mic to receive voice commands. The TV excels for us when it comes to everyday use with smart functionality and a large number of streaming apps. The configurable smart hub interface appears on the bottom of the screen with intuitive navigation, making it really easy to use. The Q80 comes with Samsungs Bixby voice control system. We were not a fan of Bixby and after interrupting programs to tell us he was listening we turned Bixby off. We particularly love the One Connect box which is a perfect solution for our set up. It means all the cables are totally hidden and it functions as a hub for all of our other devices. Highly recommend the Q80.
When I was reviewing TVs in the market before purchase - Samsung Q75R & Q80R caught my eye - there were nothing but only 5 stars for Q80! Say what?! I thought to myself that can't be true, surely someone would've found a flaw or something that didnt please their taste - anyway after purhasing Q80R model, it held upto the hype and expectations I had. It's absolutely breathtaking! The processor is exceptionally FAST, the OS is user-friendly & intuitive. MUST buy if you can afford it! Although it is a shame that still alot of content is not made in 4K quality but on-demand content like Netflix has ultra HD which is pretty impressive.
If it was purely for the quality of the image I'd be really happy but the whole experience with this TV is next level. I thought we had a "Smart TV" but this is really smart! It's capacity to see and identify plugged in devices is brilliant. The connectivity and intuitive interface is excellent. Advanced features that are difficult to operate on other TV's is a breeze on this one. So happy with our purchase and couldn't recommend it highly enough!
I have owned this TV for a week as of today and I am still stunned by it every time I watch something on it! I came to it from a Panasonic 50" 1080p Plasma that I used to rave about the picture quality of to anyone who would listen. I used to argue that LED technology could not compete with plasma but recently I've been watching reviews of QLED TV's and have been discovering that my 1080p has been well and truly surpassed by them. Checking them out in store convinced me it was time to buy one so I did. And I haven't looked back! It took a couple of hours to get the picture set up the best possible and I did that in conjunction with recommendations of settings from expert reviewers on You Tube. The Natural and Standard settings look amazing but if you really look you'll see the colours are unnaturally vivid and bright. I found the Movie preset with Colour Temperature at Warm 2 was perfect for my situation, as did most You Tube reviewers. I turned off all "enhancements" such as Contrast Enhancer, Auto Motion and Digital Clear View as well. I set Local Dimming to High. The sound from the standard speakers is more than satisfactory for my lounge, much better than the standard speakers that were in my Panny plasma. I am considering a soundbar though, predominately because I think the better sound will do justice to the amazing picture quality and improve the big screen movie experience this TV provides. I cannot recommend this TV highly enough. Friends and family who have seen it have been equally as stunned by it. If you are coming from anything other than a current generation OLED or another Samsung QLED then prepare to be blown away by the picture.
This is the best TV I have ever owned. 1.The most amazing feature is what Samsung calls "Object Tracking Sound" -you can actually sense the sound coming out of mouths of people{or objects) as they move around screen. 2.The other notable feature (especially after 20+ years with other brands) is how well Samsung TV adjusts to light conditions. TV is in a room facing north with windows on 3 sides (so gets sun from dawn to sunset); but no longer have to close blinds or change where we sit (or move TV) depending on where sun is, because TV automatically adjusts and is more than a match for Australian sun. 3. Little things do matter. It was nice to receive Samsung TV app which provides more channels. Unexpected, but fun to explore and anyway, its free. Also, TV is supported on a central pillar, therefore it is far easier for one person to move than a TV with legs on each side.
Bought this TV a month ago and couldn't be more happy. Great picture quality with virtually no glare. It is so easy to connect to all my existing hardware through the one connect box. Don't have to worry about passing all the cords through the wall, just the one cable that does the lot. This creates a neat finish with no cords everywhere. Overall great TV
Stupidly I bought into the hype and got a Sony OLED a year ago. Big mistake. Dim dull image, black crush, bad colours in dark tones and washout saturation in bright colours. Sold it a month ago. Bought the 55Q80R. Well let me tell you as a former OLED owner , this Samsung tv is awesome! Colour saturation is top notch from dark to bright tones. Minimal black crush that was fixed by changing gamma to 2.2. Shadow detail is now brilliant. Black is black on this tv. OLED no longer has the upper hand on blacks. Oh and OLED has also lost the viewing angle thing too, this Q80R has WIDER angles than the Sony OLED it replaced. The OLED colours shift about 40 deg off axis. The QLED does not! I still can't believe Samsung has made LCD TVs this good. Can't wait to see the future of LCD tv now. Love my tv. Love it love it love it.
I brought this TV 3 weeks ago after spending an hour in store considering my purchase. This was the first TV that caught my eye due to the picture quality and I could have saved myself the hour spent if I had run with my initial impression. Very easy to use with foxtel, netflix, stan & apple tv apps incorporated. Have had Samsung TV's before and dont know why I consider other brands. Best picture and value for money
Best tv have bought over my lifetime the picture quality is amazing and having a tv/smartphone/laptop computer at my fingertip or even my voice in 1 means the future is here and what comes next will be out off this world now can relax and do everything at once tv surf net skys the limit !!!
