Nothing, I live in a poor reception area, the radio is great!
I bought it hoping it would pick up nearby radio stations better at night and it definitely does
This radio is compact yet has remarkable sound quality and clarity. Easy to set up and begin using. I bought as back up for power outages and have already used during recent weather event. Don't hesitate to purchase this radio.
RECEPTION WHEN WE DID NOT HAVE IT BEFORE
no need to keep searching for a better price.
With the exception of one design issue, this is an excellent radio. Well built, fairly easy to operate and has sound quality that is phenomenal when using quality ear buds through the earphone jack. The difference in sound quality between AM analogue and AM digital stereo is staggering and must be heard to be believed. The difference between analogue FM and digital FM is appreciable and well worth the upgrade to this HD format portable. I wish Sangean would have chosen the longer lasting 18650 or the BL5C battery platforms but that isn't why I give this radio only 4 stars. I give it 4 stars because this radio has no provision to recharge the AA batteries. I now have to buy a separate AA battery charger and make sure the included 5 volt A/C converter is plugged into the radio before removing the discharged batteries to avoid losing all the radio station presets, clock and alarm settings. Very inconvenient and an added expense for me but I still highly recommend this radio to others noting the above extra steps needed to keep this little gem of a radio playing.
Make sure you check your local HD station web site to make sure you want this radio. The stations had changed by the time I ordered the radio. Also most stations are just adding their sister stations as HD2 and HD3. This is ok when the sister station is AM or from the internet but not so special when its just another analog station Already on the dial. The alarm works great especially how it comes on quietly and turns up Gradually. I only gave it 4 stars because I have an analog Sangean DT 800 pocket radio with a bass boost switch that sounds like a home stereo tuner when used with headphones or plugged into a stereo aux port. I cant understand why Sangean cant make this radio have better sound quality. The whole point of the Hybrid Digital is to increase the sound quality while consolidating scattered sister stations. Like HDTV. Better picture and consolidated channels. I can run this through an equalizer pre amp and that will do the trick but thats puts this radio back 40 years in sound quality. Like a Kraco connected to a Pyramid eq amplifier. Ha ha.
Radio is ok. would buy something different if buying again.
For the price point, the sound is terrible
Too small, will not stand up with antenna all the way out. The volume is very low even when turned up all the way. Does not get many am stations which is why I bought it. I wanted more am stations. Returned it.
