I find this radio to meet all expectations that one would want from a clock radio. The reception to distant radio stations is excellent. It uses an antenna wire instead of a telescopic metal antenna as seen on many radios. The wire is fine and has to be stretched straight for maximum sensitivity to stations.
I was impressed as soon as I took the Clock Radio out of the box. You could tell immediately that it was well made! While the directions for set up could be clearer, I managed to get it to operate in a relatively short period of time. The sound quality, to me, is exceptional.
After reading many reviews of this clock radio I was fully prepared for a variety of problems. But, surprise! Absolutely none of them came true. This radio had an instruction manual that was reasonably easy to understand and quite complete. The lcd was both readable and easily dimmed or brightened. The sound quality was excellent. The FM captured all of the stations within my listening area loud and clear. The atomic clock took a little longer than I expected to capture the signal but it did capture it and works perfectly. The humane waking system works as designed and the alarms are easily programmed. I couldn't be happier - with all my research I actually made a very good decision in selecting this product.
i bought one and I liked it so much I got another one.
The radio is model RCR-22 not the RCR-10 that is pictured. However, the RCR-22 is an outstanding clock radio. I have been looking for a clock radio with a headphone jack so I can listen to the radio at night without waking my wife. The atomic clock worked perfectly and the radio has very good reception. I would give this radio 5 stars if the picture was accurate. If you want the ipod docking, DO NOT buy this radio as the RCR-22 does not have it.
Take a look at the picture. That is NOT the product I received. You have the wrong picture posted. The RCR-22 has the buttons on the front like the RCR-2. This picture is more like the RCR-10 model. Check it out. This is the wrong picture for what I was sent.
I've only had the unit for 3 days, but so far it performs well. One of the reasons I replaced my 20 year old clock radio was the reception was weak and scratchy. Once I attached the wire antenna of the new clock radio to the vertical wall, the reception is very good The biggest problem I had was to change the Pacific Daylight time that was preset on the clock to Central daylight time. The instructions didn't help. I had to call the Manufacture and the representative I talked to was very helpful by walking me thru the conversion
This radio is very hard to understand how to set the time or alarm the booklet is very hard to understand with all of the symbols and you can't figure it out. the only good thing is that it sets itself and that is really helpful, other than that the price is way high for what i received The quality is good very heavy and small size ,, that is nice for a bad side nightstand. The set up was easy enough, the sound for the alarm is awful the beep in the mornings in so low you can barely hear it and I don't know how to set it up with the radio alarm. The snooze I don't know I don't use it,,,,,,,,,the bright light is awful too bright at night ,, would I recommend it to others? NO I would not
Recommend with caveats. I am returning this radio. The display is much too bright, even at its low setting. Could easily be a nightlight. Illuminates the whole room. Reception on both AM %26 FM is good. Automatic time synchronization failed on both WWVB (which admittedly is spotty here, as well as FM RDS. (I suppose it could be that no FM stations in the area are including time data.) Like most Sangean radios, programming is challenging, You need to keep the instruction booklet handy or you will press the wrong button. As for sound, at first I thought it was tinny, but I got used to it. If you are using the radio to wake up to the news, it's perfectly adequate with the Loudness bass boost turned on. I wouldn't want to list to music, though.
Website photos show variously a white front panel or a completely different black one with stereo speakers. The latter is what I thought I was ordering. What I got is the, white, one with mono speaker, so-so sound, and a display that is light blue against darker blue that is difficult to read at night. One good thing - the atomic clock locked on. I will be returning this one.
