Sangean WR-2 Black Table Top Radio

I have always bought cheap "boom box" radios with tinny sound and cheap components. I finally decided to buy a quality radio. This radio is small, but heavy. It is a quality piece of audio equipment. It comes with a remote control and has an attached AC cord. I wondered about that since it referred to a DC power adapter, but made no mention of an AC cord. 5 presets for AM and FM. The quality of the FM is great. My wife likes Country music and the sound is wonderful. I like talk radio and listen to AM. It is not so great. I get a whiny static after 5 PM and have no idea why. I looked on Google for info on making an AM antenna and made one for under $10 that works great and eliminates almost all of the static. Shipping is free and I ordered it on a Friday and got it the following Tuesday! No complaints at all.

Best table top radio I ever had, the reception is great in every room including our porch. This is the second one we have purchased.

If I were designing this radio I would make a couple of changes but reception is excellent and that is what is most important to me

I've tried other more expensive radio's in the past and by far this radio has the best FM Reception. I live in Central New Jersey and I like listening to the Phila, Pa stations. I'm about 100 miles away from Phila and those other radio's just didn't cut it for me. One Tip: When you get the radio, make sure you connect the external Wired FM antenna that Sangean provides. You might have to play around with the placement of the antenna or the placement of the radio. The AM is just average. If you can't get the AM stations with your current radio in all probability you won't get them with the Sangean WR-2 Radio. Overall excellent Radio!!!

I wanted to purchase a AM/Fm clock radio that sounded great and was easy to set the alarm. The price also mattered. I was very pleased with this radio. The sound is great and it pulled in a lot of stations. I had no problem setting the alarm. I am very happy with this purchase. Would recommend it highly.

liked it so much, bought hubby one, so he can hear his programs..no problems with the am!!!

A good value. I like the clock light because it's not red or blue. I move my radio 3 feet away from me while sleeping to keep away from RF, EMF and blue light and I would like the design of the radio to include an indentation or finger hole in order to move the radio toward me when I want to. There is NOTHING to hold onto except the groove between the metal frontal piece and the radio.

This is the only company still making a good AM receiver. It does not have a long distance AM antenna but does as well at night as a car radio which is still very good. The radio is compact with a good speaker and a very welcome remote.

to hard to program date time and set stations to push buttons. to hard to reset alarm. sound quality poor on FM station 3o miles away KNTU 88.1. external antenna inadequate. better radio than the one I replaced it with.

I had been shopping for a radio for a long time and when I read some of the reviews on this one I was in hopes that this one would work for me. Although it does have good sound I am unable to pick up some of the stations that I normally pick up on my cheap portable radio even with the external antenna.
