I used this provolone to make Philly cheesesteak sliders, and it was delicious! The slices melted beautifully and had a rich, creamy flavor with just the right amount of smoky taste. It paired perfectly with the steak and onions and gave the sliders that classic cheesesteak flavor. The slices were fresh, easy to separate, and high quality. I'll definitely be buying this again for sandwiches, burgers, and cheesesteaks.
Tastes like provolone. I have no qualms against it. I put it on bread and eat it. My mouth rejoices. I make another and I am pleased once more. I can put more cheese in mac %26 cheese or I can eat it plain. This is the purpose of the almighty Sargento provolone.
I love this sliced provolone cheese because it's fresh and natural, rather than the smoked type., which tastes like a mouth full of liquid smoke. This is so much better! Thanks for not smoking the cheese!
I order provolon cheevery 2 weeks from Walmart.Because it's frethe price is right delivered on time.Excellent texture and it's right size for a slice of bread
Cheese, i was exposed to this type of cheese in 1993. provolone, which i found very interesting. kinda like Swiss but a little more bitter but with a snap. tastes is very good, it says natural smoke flavor, i barely taste or sense a smoke flavor. the texture is good, a natural smoothness. quality is good. price, is decent, i think for me, id just go with the great value brand its similar, but its as good but a better bargin with todays, November 2025 inflation. would i recommend, yes, its even better on pizza.
Our family definitely prefers the sergeant of brand over the great value or other generic brands. It melts well, which is important when you're trying to melt cheese it has a decent flavor not an overly intense flavor, which is kind of a downfall. A lot of the times the price is a little higher than other cheeses, but sometimes it's worth it. Our family definitely prefers the sergeant of brand over the great value or other generic brands. If you're having a cookout or something where you're gonna need a lot, you'd probably be ahead to get a different brand that's cheaper
I am really unhappy and disappointed with Sargento but I still bought this cheese even though I shouldn't have. They have reduced the number of slices they put in a bag and even worse they have made it an odd number! I get to the end of the package and I'm left with 1 slice of cheese! I hate that! I really hate that every company reduces the quantity and keeps the same price or raises the price. Charge me extra but stop reducing the quantity. It doesn't make sense how many times can you reduce the quantity? In the future will I be buying a bag of cheese that only has 1 tiny slice or maybe 2? Stop cheating me Sargento. The quality of the cheese is nice, it has good flavor and texture but the package doesn't go as far as it used to so I need to find a different cheese company which is sad becasue Sargento used to be a reliable source for high quality cheese. I don't know if they're still reliable. If they have to remove slices to increase their profit what else are they doing to increase their profit??? I don't want to think about it.
Expensive, but wal mart brand doesn't compare. I use this in a lasagna as a layer when I replace meat in sauce with cubed pepperoni and ziti noodles or penne. It gives it a great flavor as mozzarella is the top layer only with or without ricotta cheese is good. I also like it as a second cheese on a grilled cheese sandwich. I only buy the smoked flavor as it does give that extra flavor to those dishes I can't explain.
Sargento provolone with some smoke flavor didn't taste like cheese. It's like processed cheese with liquid smoke barely added. I like real cheese that has a good mouth texture and you get that rich smoke taste. This was like eating sliced mozzarella with barely smoked.
This was my long time favorite brand for pre-sliced provolone cheese....that was until they got rid of the paper in between slices. It is now near impossible to get just one slice out and if you're lucky enough to get it first try its almost certain to rip apart. It feels like one big block of cheese almost -- please bring the paper slices back.
