Sauder 5-Shelf Bookcase, Chalked Chestnut Finish

This bookcase looks like it would cost 2x what it did cost!! Took a man 30 min to do it!! Very sturdy and would nice!! Would buy it again!!

I really love these shelves They make such a change in my living room!!! The only thing I am not fond of is the things to hide the screws. They are white and do not match the shelves as I'd have expected. The shelves are heavy and seem very sturdy though and for me that is the most important thing!

We are very happy with the shelves. We had bought 3 5-shelf bookcases to accommodate the large number of books our daughter has accumulated. The bookcase color and quality is so much better than we had expected. We love the detailing and the thickness of each shelf. It did take some time for my husband to install but it was not difficult.

I'm 68-year-old female almost 69 and I put this together by myself. It took me a couple weeks before I had the guts to put it together. I used to do this all the time but it's been a while. I'm not sure how long it took me but at least 2 hours. I put a bunch of books on already so I think it'll work well for me and it is wide enough for my fabric baskets to fit on the bottom shelf. Not done with the rearranging but for now it'll do.

This shelf is great. It is much more sturdy than the ones I would buy at the big box store. It was pretty easy to put together. I like the trim on the front of the shelves. It will help prevent the shelves from warping. Great design! I also love how you can buy matching pieces for your room. We bought an L shape desk.

Shelving is used for office furniture. Putting it together is a two person job. Instructions are easy to follow but care is needed not to stress the cam and cam stems during assembly. I don't recommend using a power drill for the screws as they are made of softer metal.

Looks nice but cheap design for connections. It will fall apart easy if you need to transport after assembly. One connection broken with plastic, no extra given. Many loose joints with no designed reinforcement

Purchased two bookcases, and finished assembling yesterday. Very disappointed! The quality is poor, each is a lot of work to assemble [it also helps to have two people], and they're not sufficiently sturdy to hold books. Check out the photos. The name is “5-shelf Bookcase” [Model 414235]. The assembly instructions in English are the first 19 pages of the manual; the manual itself is well-written. Step 14, page 19, includes the load per shelf. Three shelves hold 30 pounds, one holds 40 pounds, and the bottom holds 50 pounds. It would have been great to see this information before purchasing them for books. For the first time ever, I needed to organize my books by weight, not category, author, etc; the shelves are half empty. I purchased them to replace two Sauder bookcases I purchased more than 12 years ago, and had moved 3 times, so I thought I'd gotten my return on that investment. The downgrade in quality was a huge surprise, and I would not have ordered them had I known. Last night I dreamed they collapsed. Tomorrow I'm going shopping to replace them.

Very cheap. It's a bookshelf so I put books in it. I bought it in March of this year and now it broke. It got loose on its joints and now it's about to crumble on the ground. Please DO NOT waste your money. If I can put a negative number for my review I'll do negative 10. I barely write reviews but on thus one I have to do because I was so disappointed. It was expensive and now I loose my money. I can't use this anymore.

BUT, Problems started with the cam dowels joining. The joints would not & could not stay together under stress with normal use. I am using "L" braces holding in place w/wood screws...even after partial reinforcement the book case is alot less wobbly & MORE stable & sturdy. The help that I got from Bret was outstanding.
