Sauder Beginnings Engineered Wood 5-Shelf Bookcase in Brook Cherry

Easy to assemble and a brand I trust.

I live in a senior residence and needed this to prevent clutter in my art studio. I did not need fine mahogany at this stage in life, so was so pleased with the quality of this simple product.

This shelf unit is great for all of my cricut items. I already have one just like it and the three shelf unit. Now my craft items are all in one place and not scattered around randomly. I would recommend.

easy to assemble. color worked great with my orginial cabinets. the backing is the only thing that was not pleasing. it is cardboard. all in all was a good value.

This bookshelf fits the space beautifully and hods everything I needed to put there. It is not as sturdy as some, since the backing is wood printed cardboard, but it does keep the shape of the bookshelf very stable. Otherwise, it is doing its job well, holding many books and papers. The color matches some of the other pieces we have, so it looks great.

We purchased 2 bookcases in 1998, both of which still stand straight and tall, and no shelf warpage with large books. In 2018 we purchased 4 bookcases which were clearly not quite the same as the 1998 product, and I have had to turn shelves upside down to counter-act warpage. We purchased one bookcase in 2026, and the manufacturing quality is clearly poorer. The hardware is smaller, and the engineered wood product is less dense. I took great care to assemble it right the first time. It was clear that there was little room for error. That said, I do have confidence in its structural integrity as long as I don't overload it. I do expect to be turning the shelves sooner than 8 years from now. I recommend purchase as long as great care is used in assembly, handling, and usage.

doesnt hold a lot of books, doesnt hold the weight well, thw back comes off with a min movement of loaded bookshelf

The holes didn't match up and it made the shelf uneven.

screws to connect the top from the bottom does not fit in the square holes round does not fit into squares

Terrible purchase. My husband had to practically rebuild the bookcase from Scratch. Very flimsy. Cardboard backing. I would never have bought this had I know how crappily it was built. Do not recommend.
