Sauder Hammond Lateral File, Emery Oak Finish

Solid and well made. Quite a few steps to put together but worth the money!

This is one sturdy piece of furniture! The only drawback is that I don't believe it will hold as many letter size files as those that provide two rows front to back in each “drawer.”

All the pieces were labeled, making assembly a cinch. Having an extra set of helping hands does make it easier. The instructions were great, so after 35 minutes, we had a good looking filling cabinet. Yes, the particle board does not allow for power tools, so the manual part is a tad laborious.

Like another reviewer said this really comes in handy when working from home. My husband put this together by himself (with a small power drill) in about 2 hours give or take. Like anything from Sauder, it does require assembly and comes in a million bits and pieces. However this was astronomically easier to put together compared to the Hammond executive desk (ha!) Anyway, it looks great, is a great size, and functions very well. The quality is good and I do not think it's too expensive. In fact I'd say it's right on par with the quality and size. There is tons of room for storing hanging file folders; can't imagine ever filling it up. I do plan on getting one or two more pieces from the Hammond collection to finish my home office.

I purchased several pieces of this Hammond Collection for my home office. The file cabinet is excellent in styling and construction. The only reason I'm giving a 4-star review is that the color of this collection's photos and description as ""blonde"" are not accurate. The color leans towards a more light gray color wash, then a blonde color. I viewed this collection on a professional photographer's monitor for more accurate color before purchasing and was expecting a blonde color. I did tell customer service my concerns, and I hope they change the color photos and description.

Looks nice now that it is put together. Assembly was a total nightmare. Parts were missing. Directions are awful. . Took 6 hrs for 2 people to put together. Should come assembled. . . . should not have to go thru that aggravation after paying 300. 00 for it.

The locks are not very secure. Assembly took awhile. Maybe 2 to 3 hours. I'm going to try and return it. Would not buy this again.

This is a cheaper product, on a low budget. It has one review and now with mine, it makes two. It has the same issue. The file cabinet lock doesn't close because it does not line up with the groove, so that the lock inside can grab the groove. That is poor workmanship and laziness in the part of the person/persons that are suppose to check. Now my husband has to invent a solution. I would not recommend because the purpose was to have a lock and now that can't be used. I would buy only if you have the patience to return it if not happy.

I have another Sauder 2-drawer lateral file that Ive had for many years and figured this one would be the same. Not! I didnt realize that this model would be so different. There is so much wasted space! My other cabinet has 2 rows of files in each drawer without any wasted space. The one I just bought has wasted space no matter whether its configured with 2 rows or one in each drawer. The only things I like about this model is the color and the way it looks. It works in the room that I need it in, so Ill keep it.

I suspect if I ever get the product, it will be as good or better than any other Sauder product I have enjoyed. But for now I have some of the boxes and I am unable to assemble anything and I have been waiting 27 days. It is hard to build a desk when you have half the parts and no hardware. It is hard to add a hutch to a file drawer that is not here. Estes is the freight company and they are horrible. Sauder told me they would try again with another freight company and then used Estes again. This should not be this hard.
