I purchased this hutch as an addition to my current desk. The measurements were accurate, the quality was good and as expected. The ease of assembly was good but does need two people at times. I've received several compliments on it. I purchased it on sale, so the price was fantastic! I would recommend this desk hutch to anyone needed extra space .
This is for a compatible desk with it.
This hutch was purchased because a friend bought us the Credenza under the hutch and we wanted a little more storage room for papers & records etc. & the hutch provides all that plus it's an awesome looking piece of furniture & looks terrific in our office. My wife uses it every day and absolutely loves it. You do have to put it together but if you have a Phillips screw driver & hammer & can look at pictures & do 5th grade reading it should be no problem assembling it. I would HIGHLY recommend it.
Make sure you follow the directions when you assemble it. And take your time. It shouldn't take one person more than 90 minutes to complete. It will take two people to lift. Its a very solid and nice hutch the fits perfectly with the Sauder Heritage Hill computer desk and bookshelves if you add them.
This is a beautiful desk with plenty of room to store things. It was a bit of work to get it together but worth it. looks great and works great too!
Attractive desk. It was a little narrower, front to back, than I expected, but overall I am very pleased with this desk. It looks great, and everything fits together perfectly. The directions for assembling it rated an A+ from my engineer husband. All pieces were included and clearly marked. I was a little disappointed that there were a couple little scratches on the desk top and another on the "valance" piece at the very top, but there was no one to contact regarding this issue. After the desk was all put together, we weren't going to disassemble it, so I guess we live with the scratches. We really only wished we could get a new valance, not a whole new desk, and didn't know how or who to ask.
I put this together almost entirely by myself. When it came time to attach the hutch to the computer desk...well let's just say the pre-drilled holes were NOT exactly where they should have been. It was hanging about 1/4 inch off on 1 side and was 1/4 inch short of the edge on the other. My husband and I realized that the rightmost screw holes under the desk would position the hutch as it should be so we just used those. The left 2 holes had to be left empty or they would have drilled up through the desk without ever hitting the hutch piece they were intended to anchor. They don't stress enough in the directions how important making each piece flush is. It is a VERY exact science. But in the end, we are happy with how it turned out given our improvisations on a couple of things. My husband is already loading it with his ham radio equipment. Only thing we would recommend be added is optional under hutch lighting down onto the desktop. We are going to add that and will likely need to drill some additional holes in the back of the hutch to accommodate all the ham radio wires.
The desk and hutch are just what I needed to complete my study area. It takes several hours to assemble but I was not in a hurry. I sorted the enclosed hardware in several plastic cups which made it easy to locate per the instructions. I found a dent on the valance that can't covered by a stain marker or Old English polish. If I had not been so far in the assembly stage I would have returned the hutch for a new one. The two back panels that attaché to the desk are a little short if installed per the instructions. Also be careful in installing the two long screws through the desk to parts C and D of the hutch for the alignment is a little off. Over all I am satisfied but would like to have a new Valance. I believe the damage is from poor packing.
My wife and I put it together with out much trouble. The only problem was putting in the screws because the holes were so tight. I am 74 and I just don't have the muscle power. Someone younger should have no problem. The unit really looks good on the desk.
This will be the last time I purchase from Sauder. I had the same experience twice. Freight had to be send back. Waiting to be compensated. Parts on back order for months. Redelivery dates promises ….blah blah blah ! Not to mention damaged parts. What got me was the low price. 😀
