Fun one !

drewmeister December 12, 2017

I changed strings , did an action intonation job and the more I play the better it gets ! At this price point some upgrades would be worthwhile .

Bargain guitar?

Anonymous April 28, 2017

Bargain is right.this is my first time purchase from Walmart and I must say I'm pleased with my purchase the guitars I bought just to see what you could get for 89.00 ,well to my surprise they had 2 left and discouned them to around 65.00 ea wow with free shipping hello the quality is for the money is good the finish nice and with a little adjusting play great way to go Walmart...... note I gave this a 5 rating not because this the end to all guitars but for the money a great value that anyone should be happy with.

Nice axe for the price

Jesse October 23, 2017

I bought the surf green with aged white pick guard when it was on clearance. I could not be much happier with what I got for the price. Cosmetically, it looks great, the tuning knobs are slightly crooked, and I did have to tighten the volume knob. However, these were minor fixes. It did not need much for a set up and it feels, plays, and sounds great. It also comes with the wrenches needed for the truss and bridge and it came with a (cheap) cable and strings. This is a fantastic starter and you can't go wrong with the prices!

I am Pleasantly Surprised and Happy!

RevRandall December 7, 2017

INEXPENSIVE! A little cheap in some areas but stands out in others. The Bad: My Guitar needed setting up completely. The truss rod needed adjusting, the plastic nut needed cutting deeper with an Exacto Razor Saw, the intonation was adjusted to the max of the saddles, frets on the neck needed polishing, and the tuners were not very good at all. Good guitar to practice set-up work on. The Good: Beautiful Guitar. Paint is perfect. Neck fits tight in its place. Electric Hardware is of minimal quality....BUT the pickup quality is exceptional. I will not change any electrical parts out because I am afraid it will change the tone that I really LOVE. The Best: Price counting shipping and tax was $49.03! Prices on Sawtooth Guitars change frequently so look for a good deal. My rating is NOT comparing this to a "custom shop" guitar but for the price I paid, I am happy. If I had paid $150 for this guitar, it would only get a 2 star rating. I would compare this to other $150 guitars which would not need so much effort getting it playable.

Very pleased at the purchase of this guitar

Nut had to be shaped but overall this Telecaster is well worth the money. Tone is great and neck feels good in your hands.

Surprised by this guitar

Robert November 3, 2017

For the price, was expecting to spend a few days fixing and adjusting things before being able to do anything with it. But was pleasantly surprised, actually playable right out of the box. Neck was straight, action was good with no buzz; seemed to be set to Fender Tele specs. The pickups actually sound fine with no microphonics. Was tempted to give it a five! Except the nut was a little off center, and string spacing a little off, not that big a deal though and easily fixed with better nut (comes with plastic). Tuners are pretty sloppy, but hey they work and seem to hold a tune good enough. Was going to give it away this Christmas, but think I'll keep it!

Another Sawtooth Guitar

RevRandall November 3, 2018

I had previously ordered 3 other Sawtooth Guitars. (See my other review) This one was had a couple of issues. There were 2 places on the back that had been painted over without being prepared properly. One fret was bent slightly. It did not affect the playability or intonation. If I had paid more, I would have returned the guitar.

It Is ???

Pops October 29, 2017

I bought the sycamore body version. There are a few cosmetic flaws. A small dent and a penny size spot where the paint rubbed off. A small chip on the rosewood board near the edge of the nut is the only really bad flaw. The guitar sounds okay and plays okay and all switches and controls work. The tuners are usable and hold tune. The strings were rusty in spots and I replaced them with 9's which work fine. The guitar is really light but feels solid enough that it doesn't feel like a toy. The action is too high for a beginner to be able to easily play and the nut is too high to be able to lower the strings enough to play the first two frets easily. I think the guitar is worth what I paid, under $100.00 and would be fine for a beginner or somebody that wants a Telecaster style guitar to play on the cheap. For a beginner that has someone to help setup the guitar. I'd buy it again and didn't expect a perfect guitar for what it cost me.

Not Bad, But Needs Work

jim October 20, 2017

I bought the Surf Green on closeout, I couldn't resist for the price. It's not a bad guitar, but it came with some issues. First of all, the finish had several cosmetic flaws, with a lack of quality control obvious. The biggest problem is that the pickup selector switch doesn't work in the bridge position. I took the switch out, but couldn't see any bad connections. The bridge pickup works when used in the middle position, so the problem must be in the switch. The bridge is not a string-through, and is tempermental to restring. The neck has a full. beefy shape which I like, and the frets are not bad. The truss rod functions, and the pickups sound good, at last in the middle and neck positions. The guitar is not a featherweight, but feels good when playing. The tuners are cheap but functional. Overall. I got a good deal. I don't care for the shape of the headstock, but I love Telecasters, and this one is a keeper.

Returned the first one. Waiting on the next one.

This guitar came in a reasonably well packaged box with no FRAGILE stickers. (Can be improved upon) First look, it looks very nice. The finish is smooth, the headstock, nut, and bridge were clean and square. (+) The pickguard clear cover was pulled up only to find that it was lifting the top protective layer of the pickguard with it. ($5 fix) The bridge is a string thru design with 6 saddles for intonation adjustment. (Big +) The frets were uneven, and corroded. (Easy enough fix, but noteworthy) The D, G, E strings were rusted from the nut to the 5th fret. (This is a super cheap string symptom, $8-10 fix) The body has a 2" crack at the neck pocket. Not just a finish crack, body through. (Ugh) The truss rod was adjusted with no issue. (+) Plugged into an acoustic 15 Watt amp, the pickups are fairly hot. (+) The Bridge pickup is much brighter than the neck. (++) The neck pickup alone was evenly bass heavy. (-) This guitar is getting returned for a replacement as I certainly see potential for such a low priced guitar. The neck pocket crack was the deal-breaker. I will try to review this again when I get the replacement.
