I miss the old formula. This new gel like consistency is not my favorite. Please bring back the more liquid consistency concentrate! I loved it before and used it for years. I don't love it now. When I come across an old bottle of the past recipe in my cabinet it reminds me of how much I miss it. I have to stir this one so much when adding water to it and it sticks to the kids brushes too much and they mess up their paintings more by having too much paint in their brush and it seeping over their painted lines. It also doesn't reconstitute with water well after drying in the pallet through the week. Please hear out this 20 year art teacher and bring back the old formula! Art teachers everywhere will thank you! I'm going to switch to Colorations brand soon because they are still the watery liquid consistency and not the gel like this one and blick brand. I would be so happy and willing to help promote if you brought back the old recipe.
Sax must have changed this formula because they are really thick now. When you water it down it just makes the colors dull and unpleasant. I wish they would bring back the old formula because that stuff was awesome!
The older type of liquid watercolor was fluid and great. (The bottle shape had rounded shoulders.) Now with the new bottle (upside-down martini glass shape) comes this new slimey formula. colors are different and doesn't resist oil pastels. Really not as good! Blick changed formulas first and now Sax. Boo!
I have bought these for at least twenty years of teaching art, and I can tell the Sax department that art teachers for the most part DO NOT like your new recipe. The watercolor is slimy, and does not act ANYTHING like the old kind that was wonderful. I was glad to read the comments, because I really thought these had been stuck in some snowstorm and were ruined by being frozen, but now I realize that you merely changed the recipe. I am also an artist and I can't imagine any artist liking the new recipe more. It must be a money issue because I can't imagine you standing behind these when people are telling you that they are substandard. Have you noticed these have ONE star? :/
I ordered this product despite the negative comments as I needed watercolor paints. The reviews were correct! Terrible quality! I liked the old formula as well.
I have tried to like this new formulation of paint and cannot. I have read all of the negative reviews (interesting, no positive ones). I have also read School Specialty responses that "stand by their quality" and are making excuses for this new formula. School Specialty, I hope you get enough negative comments about this new paint formulation to consider changing back to the older version many of us liked and bought in bulk. At least offer it as an option. I wonder how your sales of this product has fared now lately?
The new formula not only is slimy, but it also smells gross. I used to buy the old concentrated formula in bulk.
