At first I was scared to order a tv online but I couldnt beat the deal Walmart has been so awesome with getting these holiday orders out promptly. I ordered this tv 4times and Different sizes three 40inches and one 55inch each item arrived earlier than expected with awesome packaging and no issues at all Im so greatfull that this order was a success.
So far a great tv! Put it on our screened in covered deck at our lake house. Didnt want to spend a lot to see how that would work out but so far so good. Very clear tv. Sound could be a little better as most flat TVs are but we are happy with it.
Very pleasantly surprised by this inexpensive TV purchased for my bedroom. I bought it figuring if it was junk I could return it to Walmart within the first 30 days. Okay, this is not a premium Sony TV, but who needs one? I only paid $148 on sale for this 40" 1080P television with 3 HDMI ports. To answer a few of the negatives I read in other reviews - the speakers sound fine and have plenty of volume. Specs say each speaker is 10W. They are down facing. I have the TV on a dresser, so the sound bounces off the top of the dresser. The volume adjusts from 0 to 100. Volume 30 fills the whole bedroom with sound and is even a little loud. So there is PLENTY of volume - I recommend using the "Sound Leveling" setting and the "Surround Sound" setting isn't bad either. I had no problem at all putting the feet on the TV with the screws provided - they even included a screwdriver tool in the box. I set up the TV with a Roku Express, powered by the USB port on the TV. I stuck the Roku on the bottom center of the TV, upside down, with double stick tape. So there is no extra power cord to plug into the wall and everything is attached to the TV. Went through all the setups with the TV and with the Roku and everything is working perfectly. The Roku remote turns the TV on/off and adjusts the volume. No need for the Sceptre remote unless I want to change settings, so I put it away. Tonight I watched episodes 6 and 7 from Season 2 of The Chosen cast from my iPhone 12 The Chosen App through the Roku - wonderful! $148 for a 40" TV during run-away inflation where TVs are up 10-15% from last spring? Walmart and Sceptre rock! I am super pleased with the product so far - it has a 30-day return policy and a one year factory warranty. I'll hang onto the box and packaging just in case. Hopefully it lasts 5 years.
I'm pleased with the purchase. I installed the stand and tried using the included tool. It was ineffective. Couldn't get the feet tight enough by using the included tool. Grabbed my power screwdriver and those feet are secure and stable. The TV doesn't wobble as if it will topple over.
The reason for purchasing this item was to replace a 43' item that bit the dust. On the downside the feet are mounted about 3 or 4 inches from the edge of the screen. I would much rather have had a pedestal but there not many items in the 40 inch range so built. I can live with it. The volume seems to be a bit muted, at 100 % you definitely must pay attention. The primary use of this item is to be part of a multi monitor system for my computer system. When working Family Genealogy, I'm able to have multiple windows active at the same time which results in time saving to me. Overall I feel it is well worth the price, and have not had any issues at all with it. If photo is visible, My Heritage on left, 32 inch screen, Ancestry on right 40 inch screen. MMH
If you don't need a smart tv, and you don't need 4k, this is what you will want. I was using a 32" flat screen 720p tv from 2006 mounted to the wall over my desk as a second monitor for my laptop, and as a tv with a Firestick for streaming content. I use MS Flight Simulator X a lot, but could never utilize the full HD graphics settings on it. This Sceptre tv solved all of my problems, and looks fantastic at a bargain price! The 40" tv fit in the same space on the wall as the old 32" tv did but with a much larger screen. I spent some time adjusting the settings for color, contrast etc... until I was able to duplicate my laptop display exactly. The attached photo shows my setup when I am running MSFS X, though the photo doesn't look as good as it actually does. My laptop screen by the way, is capable of 1080p full HD. The tv also looks great when watching apps like Hulu on the Firestick. So much better than it did on the old tv. The only issue I had was the VESA mounting screws specified in the directions were way too long (M4 x 14mm) I had to buy 12mm screws because I could not find 14mm, and still had to stack some washers to make them work. If you will be wall mounting, I recommend M4 x 10mm. I knocked a star off of this review because of this issue, and because they should have included the screws. On my old tv, the screws for the base could be used for VESA mounting. Other than that issue, I am happy so far. I did read the other reviews before I bought it, and spent $14.00 for the extended warranty. My experience being that I have never had to use an extended warranty for anything I have purchased, but it is worth the peace of mind. I am hoping that I will never have any problems, but if I do, I'll update this review.
I did research on this product. You need to mess around with ,the pictures settings to get it right.Sound is very low . Other than that good TV, I bought a speaker for it.
I have a 65 sceptre in my shop that I love. This one was supposed to go in our bedroom. But , it arrived with a broken screen. We noticed it after we installed it.
Pulled the rv out of storage today and installed our new tv. Turned it on to this. Very disheartened. Cannot return it because we bought it on sale in December.
Romote controll worked for 1 day, replacement remote does not work at all. Unable to program a universal remote either. Frustrating and a waste of money. Completely unusable.
